Obama in Virginia- 6 days to go. The slime-ing begins
Obama will be the "first woman President" was the first thing I heard when I switched over to WRVA this morning --this is the megastation that carries Beck Rush Hannity and Savage. The local morning guy was actually reading the "Bill will become president if Hillary wins, Hillary will be appointed VP and run again" email that is going around. This bozo then went on to point out that you can vote in either primary on Tuesday (while making fun of people thinking the vote was two days ago) HINT HINT *wink* so in the myriad of falsehoods and disinformation and plausibly deniable marching orders/excuses he brings up that Obama could be the "first woman president" adding in that "some people say" that Obama is a bit effeminate. I don't know if he mentioned the "Obama muslim" email but I would be surprised if he didn't.

Well there you have it folks Virginia in the playing field. I expect that between WRVA and the local horrific rag the Times-Dispatch much of these talking points will be made over the next 6 days.

Oh and I saw TWO Obama ads (in a diner talking about jobs going overseas and offshore tax cheats) during the Duke -UNC basketball game. AND one on American Idol which I understand are not only really expensive but hard to get at any price (marketing goldmine).
Really really good buys for the younger market.

1. We had Obama ads in the dc area running last weekend
on "Face the Nation", of all places.

So how do the Democrats feel down there in Richmond? Northern Virginia is Obama country.

4. I'm not sure
all the talking heads seem to think that Va. is a gimme for Obama. I have no idea and no idea why.

I do have to tell you that Russert's "Chesapeake states" nonsense saturday night will go over like a lead balloon as will what I read in several places about the "DC-area primaries" (Va. MD DC) yesterday. I can just hear the revulsion from the rest of the state as they try to lump NoVa and Richmond and Hampton Roads and Roanoke and the Valley all together although.... :hide: truth be told Va is pretty much decided in the 'burbs north of Fredericksburg now---they rest of us are pretty set in our voting ways (with some play).

 We'll see. I already know who I am voting for but that is for another post.

5. Yeah for sure
I know that some down there don't like to admit we up here have the largest population areas in the state.

All the anti-war friends I have, as well as regular party people I know are going for Obama in Prince William County. I don't even think that Clinton has an organization here, if she does, they aren't as visible. The PDA chapter is heavily for Obama too, as might be expected.

We have a large Latino community here, but I don't know how they will vote. If they follow national trends, they will go for Clinton, I guess.

It would be interesting if one of the candidates could get an endorsement from Jim Webb. That would be a very important endorsement here.

6. Tuesday night -Russert said that on TUESDAY night
my goof

Yes Latinos vote for Hillary-no idea why on that one either.

Kaine was the first Governor to endorse Obama so I would expect that you (NoVA especially) will be seeing a lot of him.

Webb will probably stay out of the mix. He does have to get re-elected and hitching up to a Clinton wagon may not be in his best interests. One more election and Webb will probably be in for life or as long as he wants (Allen never got re-elected don't forget)

My wife and I were talking about how different it was to actually see a political as around here. Hampton Roads was inundated with them in 2006 (Va-2). I am not sure that Richmonders are aware of what it means to be a "battleground state"
