Can we just show up at the Convention?
I want to go and watch some amazing speeches. Is there anything for us to do there?

1. sure, but you won't get in
you need credentials to get onto the property.

I suggest contacting your local democratic party and asking what you can do.

2. I signed up to volunteer on their website.
Just did it today, so I don't know if I will hear from them. I hope so!

5. It might help you if you contacted some of your local Democratic politicians and told them of your
intentions. It wouldn't hurt.

3. You could volunteer.
They always need people to work registration tables, etc.

Are you a registered Dem and involved with your county party?

That's the best way to get convention credentials so you can volunteer.

4. I volunteered the day it was announced and haven't heard back yet
Guess I'd better try again.

Or I could just go and make fun of the Republican protesters outside.

7. Plenty to do
Most of the activity during convention week takes place off-camera during the day. Various party adjunct groups and interest groups hold events, ranging from cocktail parties to policy seminars. Many of these things are free and open to anyone with an interest.

My guess is that a lot will be going on in the neighborhood of the Colorado Convention Center. When summer rolls around, you'll start to hear about stuff.

As for the convention itself, that's a little tougher. If you aren't a delegate, you need to either be a staffer or have a connection in a congressional office or media outlet. In 2004, I was able to pick up floor passes via connections with a couple of senators, and in 1996, my wife was able to tap friends at the DNC and Arkansas state party.
