A question for the " My vote is nontransferable" crowd.
Has anything changed your minds? Are you going to sit out the election or is there another option?

Excuse me if this subject has appeared here before. I rarely visit this board. I am interested in this because I had made my mind up to vote Dean and now I am not really excited about Kerry. Thanks for the answers in advance.

1. My primary vote wasn't transferable. I voted for Dean on Super Tuesday.
I'll vote against Bush in November...not FOR Kerry, but AGAINST Bush.

(yes, I'm still voting for the Dem candidate, just not in spirit)

3. Would the vote against Bush be for a certain Democrat?
Curious... or would a vote against Bush be voting for Nader?

To me, voting for Nader or signing his name to be on the ballot is considered a vote for Bush. Agree?

5. Did ya SEE the second line?
I'll vote for the Democrat, but not in spirit...to me, it's a protest vote against Bush, not a vote in support of Kerry.

2. I see so many of these threads, but I'm never sure whom
they're supposed to be directed at. There aren't many people in DU who are uninterested in ousting Chimpy in November.

Which people on DU comprise the "my vote is not transferable crowd"?

6. There aren't that many - just a few who are very vocal about it
some are vowing to vote for Nader and some will vote for Kerry but kicking, screaming, pissing and moaning and making sure everyone arounf them suffers for it. A rare few insist on others begging for their vote but don't get any takers.

24. Well said.
A lot of these people are just looking for attention.

"A rare few insist on others begging for their vote but don't get any takers." - LOL. So true.

I have months to figure it out so why rush a decision. Depends on how well Kerry can convince me that he deserves my vote.

7. This is so simple. If Bush's name is on the ballot, I vote FOR
the democrat.

I am voting to REMOVE BushCo from power, not to make a point or protest something.

This is a simple matter of practicality. America will not survive four more years of this atrocity. This in not the time to play games or screw around.

ABB means do whatever is possible to de(se)lect the current administration. Period.

8. My vote was transferable, but not to Kerry. Will probably vote Nader
in the GE. As time goes on i am just more convinced that the dem establishment is no longer an instrument of progress, it is an impediment to progress. It has gotten to the point that experience has finally triumphed over hope.

16. Do you think this is a convincing argument?
Is your candidate so weak that you feel the need to say this?

Sorry, it's arguments like this that confirm me in my belief
that the likely Democratic nomineee this year does not deserve
my support.

18. I think it's a convincing argument
Just yesterday, I convinced a liberal friend of mine who has voted for moderate Republicans like Pataki, Giuliani and Bloomberg, that he should never vote for ANY Republican again because they ALL support Bush*. I told that voting for a Republican "enables" Bush* (my exact words) and he agreed.

In fact, I've been making this argumet for the last three years, at least. Now, people are listening to it, and they are being persuaded by it.

The argument there wasn't quite as "nuanced". :)

12. Are you talking to Kerry?
Cause if you are calling him "Bush enabler" don't think that's allowed at this time, regardless of how true it may be.

14. Be prepared to be excoriated.....
if you voice ANY doubts about Kerry. In other words, if you don't support Kerry 100%, "sit down and shut up."

We're the "big tent" party, provided you obey.

Not sure whether you are in the "big tent" when you yourself (not specifically you DoNotRefull) choose to leave that tent and support/vote for someone else.

19. I live in Ilinois, and I'm voting for Dean
I plan on voting for Dean in the primary, and I intend to write him in in November. If Kerry can't win in IL, which has recently become one of the most solidly Democratic states, then my vote isn't going to stop the landslide loss that will occur.

20. The Devil's vote for Kerry in November is conditional.
He must do two things in order to earn Hell's endorsement:

1) Completely disavow the corporatist global fascist agenda. Repackaging it under a new name (PPI) is not good enough.

2) Choose a true progressive as a running mate. Another DLC neoconservative on the ticket, and this Devil goes surfing on the Lake of Fire on November 2.
