Has there been a structual change in the economy? Jobs gone forever...
Corporations are making more money and profits than ever before by outsourcing jobs as evidenced by the stock market increase the last year. Has the economy changed forever and these jobs will simply never come back? I mean seriously, how can any corporation compete with people willing to work for 10 cents an hour? I think the U.S. economy is evolving into a pure-play service based economy. Manufacturing and tech jobs will soon be a thing of the past.

1. yes the economic path we are on will eliminate living wage jobs
there is no cosmic law that says we can not work to change that, but right now not to many people seem to be getting the message.

i am still waiting to hear in what field "the new jobs" are going to be in and where they are going to come from.

there are so many big issues, this is one of them thanks for bringing it up

3. well for people out of work
here are some areas to look into.

nursing is huge.

Demand will become enormous as baby boomers age, especially nursing in assisted living facilities and nursing homes.

Teaching:

Very unionized. Good job stability. There is always going to be a need for teachers. And almost anyone with a college degree can become one with a few extra training courses.

2. Exactly
The only way to reverse this hemmorageing is to require all work connected with National Security and energy independence be done in the United States by firms owned by American companies hiring US citizens.

Hey, maybe we could get a constitutional amendment passed stripping corporations of their illigitimate status as pseudo-humans.

If something is not done, and relatively soon, this nation will face an economic and political implosion that will make the Great Depression look like a walk in the park with bunnies and butterflies.
