Martha Stewart Convicted - "Uppity" Dem Woman Convicted - meanwhile
Edited on Fri Mar-05-04 05:09 PM by gore-is-my-president
"Kenny Boy" Lay and the Repub Men run free.... This will end up with a backlash if you ask me... She will end up with prison and will not be able to win an appeal per CNN legal analyst.

2. "Rich, White, Conservative, Facsist, Rethliklan men" do NOT get....
convicted by "Rich, White, Conservative, Facsist, Rethliklan men"
such as * and Ashkkroft.

Vote John Kerry and his AG will take everyone of these:
"Rich, White, Conservative, Facsist, Rethliklan men" down.

....and yes, they will do the "perp" walk once John Kerry becomes
our nations 44th President.

10. not aware of any country club prisons for women
To the best of my knowledge, they don't exist. Facilities for women prisoners are terrible. There are cases of women who can't even get medical treatment for breast cancer.

I don't think she is guilty of anything and I'm sorry that the jury disagreed, but she is a strong woman, and I hope if she is sentenced that she can bring some attention to the horrible conditions.

3. Just because you don't get the people at the top doesn't mean we should
ignore the criminality of others. The evidence was very convincing with Stewart.

4. No-one ever gets convicted of insider trading. It's a joke...
Everyone does it... (I worked with investment accts for 4 1/2 years btw). She wasn't convicted of the crime itself - just lying about it.

6. Lying about it is a crime too, and I think she was convicted on all
four charges. What were they? Only one of them was lying to the public about something that materially affected the value of her company. I believe one of the other three was insider trading. One was falsifying evidence.

And to say that nobody is convicted isn't even true within the small universe of this transaction, because her buddy who owned the company pleaded guilty of that charge and is in prison today because of it.

7. remember Boesky? Milken?
They were hardly "Democratic" women. They were Reaganites of the Greed Decade.

Sometimes they get ya, and sometimes they don't, but no pity party for Martha - she was as arrogant as any of them and I think justice was served.

5. it's selective justice
Martha must be punished for her real crime - being a ruthless, ambitious, uppity woman.

Why is Ken Lay walking around free? Why wasn't W charged with insider trading? Why did Neil get to walk away from Silverado?

12. she is a loyal Democratic contributor
She has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years is my understanding. More cowardly CEO types donate to both sides, to keep everybody paid off, I suppose.

13. You're right. That's why so many people here want to give her...
a pass. They claim it's selective justice, but what they offer instead is selective justice.

The want Kenny Boy and W in jail, and they want Martha on TV.

I want them all in jail.
