Al Gore and John Edwards - This is not the time to stand on the sidelines
Fucking SPEAK UP! I am disappointed. This election is too critical to stand on the sidelines and do nothing and to say nothing. They both know they could have a huge influence in tipping the election yet these two voices who passionately support their causes are for some reason silent. It makes no sense to me and it's something that is starting to get under my skin. Especially with Al Gore.

1. Me, me, me, me, me, me, me
talk to me and tell me what you think.

We, we, we, we, we

Without your advice and influence, we cannot make any logical decisions.

2. Ever think that's because they can't, in good conscious, endorse either of them right now?
I know that might be hard for those who think Obama is the messiah to hear, but there it is.

5. There is another way to look at this. Regardless of who wins the nomination,
we will have a big job ahead- uniting the entire party together because REGARDLESS of which candidate is selected- there are many - too many, unfortunately, who have become so polarized or so anti- the other candidate, it could hinder them from voting. WE NEED A LANDSLIDE in November- make no mistake about that. Gore and Edwards know this- and realize that their support is better used to make sure this happens.

7. Maybe he doesn't like either one of them
or maybe he likes both of them

and maybe he doesn't want to piss the other half off....

Neither Gore's or Edward's opinion would change my mind - but it could very well piss me off....

and probably why it is hard for you to make up your mind IS THERE IS NOT A NICKELS WORTH OF DIFFERENCE between the two

and btw if you were an Edwards supporter - if there is the tiniest possibility that Kennedy did push Edwards out (and I believe there is) of the race for Obama due to some perceived Clinton slight to JFK then I would not vote for Obama - but that's just me -

If you really can't decide flip a coin...

8. There's a rumor that Kennedy pushed Edwards out?
Very, VERY interesting if true. Do you have a link?

I'm an Edwards supporter, and this is disturbing.

13. Its very disturbing
I have LOVED Ted Kennedy my whole friggin life - but the timing of Edwards makes NO political sense to me - so I have to believe that it might be true - and I don't have to think it is some vast tin foil hat conspiracy only REALLY REALLY hardball politics - probably best to read the whole thread

10. AGREED. Between Obama and Clinton...Edwards knows full well that Clinton is the worst.
Gore has no reason for loyalty with the Clintons given how badly Bill's sexual escapades fucked him over.

Gore and Edwards need to stand up a fight against the decidely DINO/DLC, pro-corporate candidate. Hillary.

12. No, this is PRECISELY the time to stand on the sidelines, and they're being good guys to do so
Edwards has said his piece and made his points. There's not much difference between the two or their electability, so it's better to see what comes naturally. To throw one's weight in right now would only be appropriate if there was a noticeable difference on policy or viability, and there really isn't.

You'll note that many Edwards supporters are doing the very same thing on this board: it's been very quiet in the last few days. This isn't just depression, it's politeness.

There was a time when I felt that Clinton's unelectability was a huge issue; now I think that Obama has a similar problem and I don't see a clear advantage for either. As for policy, I'm torn between to corporatists, and as for character, the McClurkin affair, by itself, tears Obama down so very, very far that my character issues with Clinton seem like a tidy stack of detritus of various categories sitting next to a huge steaming pile of bullshit. Thus, I hold my tongue for the most part, and so do many others.

Edwards and Gore don't "owe" an endorsement to anyone, and by standing back, they show some decency.

I applaud them for their decorum.

16. Al Gore already endorsed the Earth...
Edited on Sun Feb-03-08 01:39 PM by RestoreGore
And is speaking up about it. Too bad the same can't be said for those only whining for some "endorsement" to talk about. They don't owe endorsements to anyone, and this only shows their egos are not on display like others' are. It shows class for them to be standing back. I say, if you are a candidate with a strong message you shouldn't need to ride on endorsements. And as far as addressing the climate crisis goes, none of them are good enough for Al Gore's endorsement.
