Frankly, I'm already bored by Kerry
Kerry will get my vote but I believe many Democrats fired up by Dean are already losing their zeal. I hope Kerry can raise enough money, he needs more passion though, he delivered almost the same victory speech on Super Tuesday. With Dean, he was sharp in interviews, a clear fighter, you always had something different, which hurt him in the end. Sometimes I wonder if this entire Dean/Primary fiasco was preplanned from the beginning, knowing full well Kerry will assume the nomination. I am still in shock at the way the media took Dean down.

Doesn't Boy George look FABULOUS?

Poor Georgie. No athletic ability, but they let him cheer from the sidelines.

In contrast:

John Edwards varsity football player.

John Edwards high school basketball player.

John Kerry being awarded for his bravery and leadership during combat.

2. We're just starting. Get a spine (thanks, Howard), or get out of the way.
Get over your shock. It's over. Howard Dean did a great service to the nation by showing the Daschles of this nation that maybe a spine matters. Now you are playing Hamlet, because Dean didn't win? Get over it, and get to work. We have lots to do. I believe Howard will play a great role yet in turning this nation around, but not by feeling sorry for himself. (He won't, even if you do.) Kerry doesn't need more passion. We do. Let's go.

26. It's over. But Dean will fight against the evil that is Bush.
I respect the hell out of Howard Dean, and what he has done for us. Apparently, the poster would rather feel sorry for the loss and denigrate Dean's effort by not rolling up his/her sleeves and fight to take this country back. Dean is a fighter. The initial post here was not in that spirit. That is what I meant.

And if you don't like what I have to say....tough shit. I don't HAVE to like Kerry. Got it? He IS a bore. He's dull. He speaks in monotones and puts people to sleep. So, when YOU accept those facts, you will be better abled to accept legitimate complaints about your man. If I were YOU, I'd change the attitude or you are going to alienate a LOT of possible voters. I don't give a shit if you welcome me or not. I couldn't care less....so you can keep your snide remarks to yourself.

Of course you don't have to like Kerry, and it is apparent you never will. He is NOT a bore (gee, I disagree. Tough). Your "facts" aren't mine, and apparently not the voters' facts, either. Your post is the alienating one, not mine. I have work to do, to elect Kerry and defeat Bush. Don't like that? Then deal with it. Best wishes.

4. Kerry isn't up for an Oscar.
And if defeating Bush doesn't energize you, maybe you need to do a quick review of his record.

This sounds like you would rather have a divine god to worship in the White House than a man, so you wouldn't have any responsibility for the fate of your nation.

Personally, I don't want anyone who's worshipped in the White House. I believe in the separation of Church and State.

6. I don't find him all that enthralling either..
but I think of it this way:

currently, when I look at the Supreme Court, I see an average term of 19 years per justice. If Kerry wins and gets to appoint two liberal justices, that's 38 years of fine, fine decisions being handed-down by them.

So a promise to nominate liberal justices more than earns my vote.

i love what he has to say about things like the environment, foreign policy, economics, and how he ties it all in together. i loved what he had to say about haiti , he had a lot of good knowledge and info of what is going on there. i like the things he says about how being pro environment is being pro jobs. you can get jobs from protecting the environment. i love it that he says everyone else in america deserves the same health care plan that members of congress get. how none of them would ever vote to end their plan and so there is no excuse for denying it to other americans.

12. I understand
I think that there needs to be drastic change in the nomination process, because it really sucks. Kucinich and Sharpton are still in the running, though and that's totally cool. You wouldn't know that from the media (and the DNC) though. They'd rather get them both out of the process. Shut them out and shut them up.

Kucinich still wants to get delegates to take it to the convention. I think its a good idea because there are still things that need addressing (like the war):
http://www.cleveland.com/news/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/news/1078396347141820.xml

I think that candidates who are anti-corporate, or have any slightly controversial opinions get squashed by the corporate media. There is so much manipluation by the media, its astounding. The media cannot be controlling our elections to the degree they have.

He wasn't boring then, speaking out against the War, and I don't think he's boring now. He was inspiring to us Boomers. But, to each his own. At least he has a modicum of intelligence, unlike a certain GOP candidate for president. I wish McCarthy had gotten the nomination in 1968, not Humphrey (of course, we had the RFK assassination), but Humphrey's boring style would have been a whole hell of a lot better than Nixon's criminality. Dean will still play a large role in shaping this country (he already has).

41. Will you please knock it off
Were you really part of the Dean campaign? Have you kept in touch on the blog? From the start, Dr. Dean's movement was called Dean for America not Dean for President. Part of the goal was to win the presidency. That's not going to happen this time.

The larger goal was to take our country and our party back. We are still working toward that goal. The first step is to take back as much of the government from the right wingers that have perversed the name and goals of this great nation.

Our fight now continues in a similar way that Ronald Reagan's movement continued after his failed run at the presidency in 1976. We start at the local levels and get active in changing the debate at those levels. Our grassroots movement will continue with the 110 politicians across America who have dedicated themselves to the ideals of the Dean for America movement.

We will eliminate as many republicans as we can at the local levels and use our newly energized base to light a fire under the party at the local levels so that we never again go back to the days of the pink tutu democrats.

The most important step now in forwarding the Dean for America movement is to get George Bush out of the White House. That means voting for John Kerry for president, DAMN IT! I don't give a shit if you have to get hopped up on goofballs to do it, but vote John Kerry for president. It is to important to our country and our party. We do not have the luxury of waiting four years for our shot.

If you ever truly cared about the Dean for America movement, then continue to support it by attending the Meet ups and seeing how you can act locally to support Dean for America democrats. If you have not yet voted in your primary or caucus, vote for Howard Dean to give him as many delegates as he can get to help mold the platform. Finally, vote for John Kerry for president. Democrats never win with a republican in the White House.

A win for John Kerry is a win for America.

I want my country back.

48. Perhaps - move energy to Congress
support progressive candidates (check out Progressive Majority)

support candidates that can defeat republicans (esp the biggest offender, rightwing zealots)

support progressive political action groups like moveon.

There is plenty to do to focus the fighting energy - even if you are not inspired beyond voting for Kerry.

Look at local races (the pipeline for future statewide and federal offices.)

Look at the local party and get involved - create a critical mass within.

Get involved in changing the local dialogue about political issues - through letters to the editor, through participating in local forums, through getting out and talking with people at malls, at local events, etc.

Expand the reach and impact of the alternative media - introduce more local folks to internet media such as Salon.com, Truthout.com, Common Dreams, Buzzflash, etc.
