Edited on Thu Mar-04-04 11:15 PM by darboy
What would you do

(I'm sorry, I cannot start a poll)

A. Vote for Reagan

B. Vote for W. Bush

(Now Let's add Will Pitt to shake things up ;))
C. Vote for Will Pitt

D. Not Vote

Note: Some of these messages were written before I added Will Pitt as a choice.

5. you're only helping Bush to win
I mean, Reagan may not be your first choice, but you gotta think he's better than Bush.

Now you've seen the world through the eyes of a Nader supporter.

14. No, it is false reasoning

to compare a choice between two Republicans to a choice between a Republican and a Democrat.

As the past 12 years have proven to anyone who is basing their reasoning on the world outside their head, instead of inside it.

15. Im showing you how a Nader voter views the election
Edited on Thu Mar-04-04 11:25 PM by darboy
its meant to educate you on their thought processes.

Edit: Many nader voters think Kerry is no better than a Repug, as unfair as that is.

But I think you are overstating the case when you describe it as 'thought processes' -- it is more of an emotional reaction.

I don't have any problem with people choosing to vote for Nader, or anyone else. That's what democracy is all about. Luckily, the number of people suffering under that particular delusion is quite small, and getting smaller.

23. Reagan= Bush. Bush does not equal Gore and even less, Kerry
It is not reasonable comparison. Will Pitt would have a better chance to benefit from a match-up between Reagan and Bush than Nader would from Bush vs. Kerry or Gore. He also would be much less likely to act as a spoiler, but rather would take votes equally from each, because Reagan voters and Bush voters are the same people. Any votes that Nader pulls from the two major parties are going to be either from Democrats or people who have registered Republican for some reason other than political beliefs, and therefore might vote Democrat anyway, or people who simply have such skewed ideas about politics that they're registered Republicans just because of Clinton's BJ or some other reason that they've simply decided they hate Democrats.

He is so cool and he supports gay marriage!

Reagan's Son to Pen Anti-Bush Editorial
Thursday, January 22, 2004
By Roger Friedman

Ron Reagan, son of the former president of the United States, is set to write an editorial piece for Esquire magazine urging the end of the Bush administration.

Reagan co-hosted a panel discussion yesterday for The Creative Coalition, the non-partisan lobbying group, at the Sundance Film Festival along with "Lord of the Rings" star Sean Astin, the inimitable "Joey Pants," Joe Pantoliano, and actor Kevin Pollak.

7. We know how bad
it is when we miss Reagan.

Honestly, I didn't like Reagan much but I could put him on ignore. I've got to check the news everyday to see how I'm being screwed by BushCo.

Give me Ronnie any day.

10. Well I only lived the first 6+ years of my life under Reagan
So I only really remember things from the end of his administration.

However compared to what I know about Bush and what I know somewhat about Reagan, I would have to go with Reagan.

11. Neither
They're both criminals.

Reagan - The real "October Surprise", Iran-Contra, etc., etc.

Bush Jr. - Well we all know that story.

17. Hold My Nose for Ronnie
No question - Reagan. I never detested a politician like I detest Shrubie. I disliked his smarmy ass Father. His grandfather was a crook and a Nazi sympathizer. They really are the BFEE.

Besides, Ronnie disliked George I as well. Nancy couldn't stand the twit. She didn't trust him at all. I still think he was behind the assassination attempt.

18. Write someone in...
or not vote.

This is like Zell Miller vs. Bush. They just don't compare to Bush vs. a senator with one of the most overall liberal records in the senate.

But if I had a gun up to my head, Reagan in a heartbeat!

22. Reagan did not run his administration. He was already brain dead
Read "Landslide: The Unmaking of the Presidency, 1980-1988). Two Republican reporters were given all kinds of info because of their party affiliation. Everyone in the White House used to call Reagan, "the absent President." Everyone in the White House was permitted to sign Reagan's name onto bills. There's a lot more stuff in the book.
