The GOP wanted to house over 2,000 their convention delegates attendees on a luxury cruise ship in NY harbor.
We expressed enough outrage to make DeLay back off. We should have quietly let them make one of the biggest PR mistakes in political history.
It's been rumored that Bush might make his acceptance speech from "Ground Zero", and I've read a lot of posts about protesters committing to prevent that from happening.
Why?
Let him make an ass of himself. Save the outrage for AFTER he does the dumb things - not before.
Apart from the PR fiasco that would result from housing the Republican delegates aboard ship, there's the money lost to the New York economy. New York is the kind of place where money talks very loudly.
Bush won't give his acceptance speech from Ground Zero, but not because it would be tacky. It's too difficult to secure that location.
