Kerrry should choose a governor for VP
SOmeone who has the ability to deliver a state thought not to be in play or certainly need to be wone.

In the SOuth only one comes to mind and that is Mark Warner. If Roy Barnes was still around in GA he would have been a great choice.

In the West, I think Janet N. is too much of an unknown.
Richardson is a brilliant choice all around but NM is in the Dems hands... If he could pull AZ as well I say its a no brainer. He certainly could go head to head with CHeney in a Debate.

COuld Gary Hart put Colorado in play?

In the Northeast the only that make since is Rendell.

My shortlist:
Richardson
Warner
Rendell
Hart
Feinstein
Edwards or Bayh
Graham.

1. Napolitano in Arizona
would also be a good choice.

Feinstein would be awful.

6. DINO!!!!!
Richardson also has beem
A UN Ambassador who the DPRK asked Bush to let be involved in the Nuclear issue last year.
A former Cabinet Secretary
A former COngressman.

A man with Gravitas
and a Hispanic.

Largely unobjectionable to Moderates.

Hewould help in Arizona. He would help in Florida. If Kerry wins those two its over for *.

8. I'm not saying he's unqualified
Just saying that he's been governor for just over one year, just like Rendell and Napolitano and well that's not fair to New Mexico (or Pennsylvania or Arizona). Also, he has already said he would finish his term as governor, so I think discussion of him as a VP candidate is moot.

2. Feinstein's a senator
A governor also has the advantage of not pulling a democratic vote out of the house or the senate.

7. Bresenden's only been in office for 2 years also...
Plus, even with him on the ticket, I would still expect to see Bush take Tennessee.

Vilsack, though, is an interesting possibility.

9. something completely different
I read somewhere as a very short blurb at the end of an article on possible VP selections for Kerry, and name John McCain got tossed out. At first I thought, madness, how can a Republican be a running mate with a democratic candidate? The more thought about I thought why the hell not. McCain's a moderate what better way to appeal to the broadest range of voters, mainly disgruntled Republicans and swing voters. I think it could change the entire complexion of the race if both men where bold enough for something radical.
