No fair guessing Casey Jones.
Open with a smokin' "Dark Star", then a two hour drum jam spinning into "Dear Mr. Fantasy"?

16. And a Deadication to those of you stuck in the 1990's, "He's Gone"
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 04:16 PM by newmajority
For the "big dog".....

He's Gone

Rat in a drain ditch, caught on a limb, you know better but I know him.
Like I told you, what I said, Steal your face right off your head.

Now he's gone, now he's gone, Lord he's gone, he's gone.
Like a steam locomotive, rollin' down the track
He's gone, gone, nothin's gonna bring him back...He's gone.

Nine mile skid on a ten mile ride, hot as a pistol but cool inside.
Cat on a tin roof, dogs in a pile,
Nothin' left to do but smile, smile, smile!!!!

Now he's gone, now he's gone Lord he's gone, he's gone.
Like a steam locomotive, rollin' down the track
He's gone, gone, nothin's gonna bring him back...He's gone.

Goin' where the wind don't blow so strange,
Maybe off on some high cold mountain chain.
Lost one round but the price wasn't anything,
A knife in the back and more of the same.

Same old, rat in a drain ditch, caught on a limb,
You know better but I know him.
Like I told you, what I said,
Steal your face right off your head.

Now he's gone, now he's gone Lord he's gone, he's gone.
Like a steam locomotive, rollin' down the track
He's gone, gone, nothin's gonna bring him back...He's gone.

Ooh, nothin's gonna bring him back.

25. They played into the 90's. Had very few top 40 hits, but they toured constantly.
Year in and year out they were in the top 3 of Billboards top grossing tour acts list.

The year Michael Jackson came out with "Stalker" his tour grossed #1 The Dead were #2.

The Beatles were the first band to prove that a group could be commercially successful just recording and selling records without touring; The Grateful Dead proved a band could be commercially successful just touring without selling albums.

not Bonny Raitt, maybe...,no not Ani Difranco, definatly not, not The Dixie Chicks, hmm, not Willie and Annie Nelsen, not...Ok. I'm sure that there is somebody Hill could get to do a benefit for her.

Maybe one of the top finalist from American Idol?

Whenever I was at one of their gigs they'd always dedicate a Dead song to me because I was "such a big fan." I thought that was pretty cool until someone pointed out to me that the _only_ Dead song they ever played was "Friend of the Devil"! :evilfrown:
