5. I was really impressed by this debate.
They both were very strong. No nastiness, no pettiness. The mood was friendly and cordial. Wolf Blitzer is an asshole.

Then let Obama take over after Hillary's term.

It's a win-win for all of us.

7. It's a good idea...
since Obama's lack of experience could be considered an issue. What better experience could there be than 8 years as Clinton's VP?
I'm starting to get excited :)

72. Obama might accept VP, but not Clinton.
Edited on Fri Feb-01-08 01:32 AM by totodeinhere
Obama would still be in his political prime after eight years of a Clinton/Obama administration. And he knows that in the past 50 years four vice presidents have gone on to become president (five if you count Al Gore in 2000.) So he would have a good chance to become president eventually. Even if the ticket lost in 2008, which I doubt, Obama would almost certainly be the front runner for the nomination in 2012. Of course, Obama wants the top spot on the ticket, but I really believe he'd accept #2.

Clinton on the other hand would be 68 years old in 2012 and I don't think she wants to wait that long for a chance at the presidency. If Obama gets the nomination then her best chance might be to wait to see if he loses the election so that she could run again in 2012. So I don't think she'd accept an offer from Obama to become his VP.

73. An unstoppable "Dream Ticket" indeed.
There seemed to be a level of civility tonight I've never seen before. I was very impressed by both Hillary and Barack, and how they approached the issues, and each other. And the nods to Edwards by both were pure class. If the stars were to align for this, it would be a Dem landslide in November. Mark my words.

They're both such great candidates and I really feel that with them and us working together, there's nothing we can't do (or undo as is the case with this administation).

I'd also find a place in the cabinet for the rest of the candidates. I really feel we were incredibly lucky with the field we had.

I just don't see how either of the front runners gains anything by putting the other in as second on the ticket.

Most importantly, ask yourself this question:

How would a Obama/Clinton ticket (or vice-versa) work to bring in Democratic votes from indepedents and those disillusioned Republicans who would not vote for the perceived nominee, McCain, for instance?

The answer is clear. Neither Obama nor Clinton is going to be a Veep nominee because it would not be in either of the candidates best interest.

Look at prominent (and not so prominent) Democrats from the South, the West, or from certain red states. My pick?

Kansas governor Kathleen Sebelius. (Not saying it's gonna be her but if Obama takes the nomination, which is becoming increasingly possible, I'd put Sebelius on the short list.)

If Clinton takes the nomination, I'd predict that she'll likely select a male, and it won't be a northerner.
