Hillary Rodham Clinton: Wal*Mart, Lafarge, and TCBY Director, Canny Corporatist
Edited on Thu Jan-31-08 05:34 PM by CorpGovActivist
As more news continues to emerge about the corporate defense work and corporate directorship stints that Hillary Rodham Clinton did as part of her now-famous 35 Years, and as more and more primary documents are provided and shown online, in print, and on broadcast outlets (including both TV and radio), http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=4242078&mesg_id=4242078">you may want to consult this list for your local media outlets, to insist that your local affiliate picks up the news.

The finances of newsfeed and revenue sharing agreements often come into play for local affiliates. If they hear from you, the viewer, they will be more likely to pick up the AP Newswire, Reuters, or related network affiliate story, and pay the price. It's all about eyeballs and ratings. It is especially effective to let them know if you've never called and asked to see a story run on the local affiliate before, and if you tell them that you know for a fact that it is running in a larger affiliated media market (e.g., NBC-4 in Washington, DC).

Fight the machine, by understanding it.

5. What, if any, connections like this does Obama have?
They are both voting for the next Latin American NAFTA treaty, I heard here the other day. How is that any different? I don't want this to be a one-sided attack if both have compromising corporate positions and connections.

6. Worth checking out:
Michelle Obama is associated with Treetop which has strong links to Wal-Mart. Her compensation: salary plus stock options is in the $300,000 range yearly.

Not mud slinging because Obama already tossed the Wal-Mart Bomb at Hillary. I doubt if Hillary ever made any $300K from Wal-Mart.

Sam Walton was still alive....and WalMart was still a good store...and the President of the Retailer Union 0defends Hillary's record!

.so give it up please

Although Hillary Clinton severed her ties with Wal-Mart years ago (she sat on the board when Bill Clinton was Governor of Arkansas, but now refuses to accept contributions from the company), Barack Obama raised the issue of Clinton's past relationship with retail giant during the debate in South Carolina.

Now, hours before another Democratic debate, Clinton supporter Stuart Appelbaum, who is also President of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, has sent out a public statement defending her record:

...

“We know from experience that Hillary shares our belief that Wal-Mart and other
retailers have a moral responsibility to respect every worker's right to
organize. She has stood with us and has been and continues to be supportive of
our efforts to call attention to Wal-Mart's business practices that hurt
working families. And she has lent her voice to calls for the giant retailer to
change its ways.

“Over the last seven years American workers and their families have been
brutalized by corporate greed and unprecedented government indifference. Based
on our experience we are convinced that, as president, Hillary would work from
day one to restore workers rights and the institution of collective bargaining.

“Some politicians only stand up for labor at election time, but we know from
experience that Hillary will be there for workers and their unions long after
the ballots are counted.”

Was an executive and member of the board, at the same time as Hillary, responsible for keeping unions out of Wal-Mart.

"one of the reasons we want to buy America, is because we love America..." HRC

while they still got most of their products from foreign manufacturers, including sweat shops

Hillary denies knowledge of the sweat shops

Sure, Walmart got worse when Walton died. But it was always a union buster and it was destroying small businesses across America when he was still alive too.

14. Obama's wife and Wal-Mart
Excerpt:
Mrs Obama earned $51,200 for her work with Treehouse's board last year, on top of
the $271,618 salary she was paid as a vice-president of the University of Chicago Hospitals.
She also received 7,500 Treehouse stock options, worth a further $72,375, as she did the
previous year, when she banked a $45,000 salary from the company.

The apparent contradiction between Sen Obama's political calculation to join the
Wal-Mart-bashing lobby, and his wife's profitable role with a company that makes money
from Wal-Mart, is being closely scrutinised by "opposition" research teams.

But if they point out that Obama's wife make big bucks from Wal-Mart,
that'll be just one more racial slur of which the Clintons are guilty, right?

35. You, my good man, are missing the point
It is not what she does, it's how tactful she dances around it!

You should read the debate threads - Hillary has gotten in a "zinger"!!

This is all that matters these days.

The whole voting for the war thing and corporate tie-ins pales in comparison to the "zinger" she just gave to Obama!

"I want to say one word to you. Just one word."

"Zingers."

Coo-coo-ca-choo, Mrs. Corporate, Lockheed turns its greedy eyes to you.

Hillary "War Yes War No War Maybe" Clinton - proudly made in the U.S.A. out of entirely foreign financed parts.
