How do you view Mainstream Media's role in our election process?

There have been many threads discussing the media's role in our democratic election process and it seems we have varying opinions as to the level of influence.

This isn't about the media not covering Edwards or any other candidate. This is about whether or not people here at DU feel there is a THREAT of MSM manipulating the entire election process, even if it hasn't negatively affected your chosen candidate as of this moment.

I don't know...I have a feeling something may break wide open soon to allow some truth to shine in on this process. I do believe those of us who feel as we do need to keep this issue at the forefront of discussion.

6. The two current trends which are most corrosive to retaining

a viable democracy are money's overwhelming influence in the electoral system and the corporitization of the news media. Democracies rely on an informed electorate and I defy anyone to be able to render informed judgments on candidates if all they do is listen to the msm. I am for Obama but the continuous whack job they do on Hillary is disgusting. News as entertainment has surpassed journalistic integrity. The minuscule is covered while the critical goes unreported. I fear for our democracy.
