Please tell me that they could Draft Edwards at the convention.
With all the fighting we are about to see from the Clinton and Obama camps, could there be a back door through which JE could enter?

I need some hope because I am totally without enthusiasm for any of our choices and I'm sick of listening to the two of them talk about that we are going to accomplish. I have not heard a thing that makes me feel that either of their great "we will end" platforms would work. What plans? Are we as Democrats placing our faith in two people who are great speakers, ground breakers in race or gender, yet without the nitty-gritty, buck the establishment fortitude needed to get us back on course?

1. It won't happen now. After SC his only hope to get it to a two person
race was if either of the other two had some extraordinary scandal that was breaking news and knocked one of them out.

2. He couldn't carry a single state. So, no.
And I think we have to move away from thinking "buck the establishment," since that isn't going to happen, to how to make the establishment work for us, for many, many, many more of us. Look carefully at the people you are returning to Congress. ASK THEM what they advocate for healthcare. They will be the ones writing the bills and sticking in the little details.

Congress needs to know what we want. And that they have only two years to get it done or we will let the Republican try their hand again. (Or, even better from my POV, primary challenges to corrupt or do nothing legislators.)

3. Sorry
now that it is the "Big Two" any chance at true progressive change is dead. But it will sound good at least.

Watching the highlights of the Puke debate last night depressed me more than ever. We will have an old fossil for president in 2009. He is NO maverick and he never "talks straight" but the MSM has anointed him and he will win in November

My only hope is that the volunteer work i am doing for Rep Joe Courtney will be successful. And I will be doing all i can to help defeat Rep Shays.

Our ONLY hope is to increase our majorities in the House and Senate

10. No, as someone who worked for the NY Draft Gore movement, I can tell you
we were advised to stand down by Gore's organization.

6. Why draft a guy who quit before Super Tuesday?
Why would a guy spend four years running for President and then quit days before 22 states vote?

Even worse, his campaign was still begging for money, knowing that he was quitting.

I lost what respect I had remaining for Edwards because of this.

7. I think you erred... slandered the Edwards campaign.

There is not a shred of evidence that the people who were asking for money knew that Edwards was quitting. Very few knew. And they gave up asking for money the instant the campaign knew.

8. Ah, but Trippi has done this before, and Trippi was making money from this.
This from a former Deaniac:

"I noticed Edwards raised funds until the last minute. Probably Trippi's doing. He pulled financial shenanigans with Dean in '04, personally benefiting obscenely from Dean's insurgency. I submitted an op-ed to the LA Times and within a day or so he announced he was rebating some of his fees."

The Edwards campaign should give that money back, since it was taken under a false pretense, i.e., that Edwards was going to fight through Super Tuesday and on to the convention.

9. That would be awesome!
Let's elect the person who got the least amount of votes among the top three! Let's bypass the two candidates with the most support who would make presidential history in favor of the white guy! Sounds fantastic!
