Before you go having a coronary, I'm not saying that Obama would approach them about it or even want the job, but the Republican media sure has the HOTS for Barack. All you hear from Morning Joe, Tweety, and the rest of their gang is how impressed they all are with the message Obama is bringing to the table this year. From a strategic point of view, what better way would there be for a McCain/Obama or a Romney/Obama ticket to pull millions of votes away from Hillary in the General Election?

And why would the HateHillary crowd love it when Hillary herself has hung with Republicans and teamed up with them? You'd think they'd be pleased or asking themselves if SHE'D want a Republican VP spot.

19. I can easily see a McCain/Obama unity ticket.
Funny thing is, everyone would get teary-eyed about what a wonderful display of unity it was. That it was monumental: the parties coming together. Everyone joining as One. No more fighting. No more bitterness. Just free-market bliss for everyone. Except the poor. And the gays. And the non-Christian. And women. (And sadly enough... maybe even African-Americans.)

We just want to feel good and have blank consciences.

that he could do it. There are no rules against it and others have considered doing it in the past. I hope it doesn't happen, that's all I have to say, but we better be prepared for the possibility of it. Yikes!

53. Yup and Bloomberg picked up the tab
If Bloomberg is serious about being president and running on a "unity"/post-partisan message what better person to have on the ticket than Obama? Bloomberg would be nuts not to have Obama at the top of his list, especially since Bloomberg is associated with the rethugs. Obama gives more of a "post-partisan" gloss to the ticket than Bloomberg-Hagel who, while a maverick, is still a rethug.

56. Which ticket do you think would get more votes, Bloomberg/Obama or McCain/Obama?
I think McCain/Obama would get more votes, but I think the scenario you painted of Bloomberg/Obama is definitely a strong possibility of happening, maybe even more so than the one I mentioned, although I could see either of them happening. Scary if either one occurs!

62. Kerry-McCain would have been a sellout but it would have won easily
McCain-Obama would be even stronger. I just don't think McCain, who has trouble with his base, would do that. Bloomberg-Obama is a very real possibility, though...It would depend a lot on how much Obama really hates Hillary and whether he is willing to wait for a future run. Of course Obama must be aware of the Democratic Party's record of not being kind to second time candidates (in contrast to the rethugs, witness Reagan, Bush 41, and now McCain). That was put into sharp relief today. If he can't get on the Democratic ticket he, based on history, is unlikely to ever win the nomination. His best bet may be becoming Bloomberg's VP and then running to succeed Bloomberg.
