Murdoch's New York Post endorses Barack Obama
Excerpt:

January 30, 2008 -- Democrats in 22 states across America go to the polls next Tuesday to pick between two presidential prospects: Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

We urge them to choose Obama - an untried candidate, to be sure, but preferable to the junior senator from New York.

Obama represents a fresh start.

His opponent, and her husband, stand for déjà vu all over again - a return to the opportunistic, scandal-scarred, morally muddled years of the almost infinitely self-indulgent Clinton co-presidency.

10. As soon as I saw, the headline, I started cracking up!
Given all the DU fuss over the Murdoch/Clinton relationship, as a Hillary supporter, this endorsement really made me smile. :D

2. Murdoch makes a jujitsu move.
Psych out the Dems. Wonder if he ask for his campaign donations back from the Clinton campaign.

8. The Post endorsing a Democrat
does the candidate more harm than good, I think. Maybe this was meant as a favor for Clinton?

:P :hide: :P

9. Conservative columnists have so far supported Obama, and it didn't hurt him
I don't buy the notion that conservative praise for Obama hurts him. He has been catching up with Hillary even after swooning pieces by the Weekly Standard, David Brooks, etc.

11. I find the conservative appeal of Obama
a little bit puzzling. While he is no Kucinich, his positions are to the left of Gore (when he was a candidate) and Bill Clinton, both of whom the conservatives despised.

I don't get the sense that it's a ploy on their part. I'm starting to think it's a combination of A: They hate Hillary, and B: Obama is nice to them. (You know, all that unity talk and whatnot). Who knows... I would read the Post endorsement to find out, but every time I go to their website it opens like 20 stupid popups and tries to install spyware on my computer. :)

12. I don't think it is because Obama is nice to them
Because Obama has been very critical of George Bush's handling of the war and other issues.
Besides, even if Obama had been nice to them, they would backstab him once Hillary is out of the picture; because your "a" option is right: They hate Hillary with passion.

6. There were a lot of meetings the last couple of days
Decisions have been made, the course has been set. The eventual winner has been determined and methinks its not going to be a Dem.

7. You show me a racist and I'll show you a Republican.
This is a bone headed move by the conservative right wing. They do not think America will put a black man in the White House so why not support him for the Democratic party. They are wrong.

Republicans also think women, Republican and Democrat, will vote in large numbers for Hillary. The Republicans are screwed either way.

Ha! I love it! :dem:
