DK better get his act together, or he might lose his Con. district
Yesterday both JK and JE beat DK in his own congressional district. That's ominous.

And oh yeah, guess who the Republicans selected to run against him in November? A 29-year old well financed Afghanistan War Hero who was in a special forces unit designated to interogate Al-Queda suspects. They've released hints that they plan to spend as much as 1 million dollars int their efforts to defeat DK.

The war-veteran was asked to comment in today's Plain Dealer about Kucinich. Paraphrase, "DK who? I wouldn't know, haven't seen him here in a LONG time. He cares more about Hawaii than Ohio."

Ouch.

And what was PRINTED in the Plain Dealer. I know reality sucks, but if you don't pay attention to it you get bit in the arse.

Since NOW you say it's from the Plain Dealer -- a very repug paper, from what I've heard -- would you care to post the link?

28. "Afghanistan War Hero"
Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 07:48 PM by Mairead
A kid at the bottom of the military food chain who spent his days asking questions of hapless Afghanis prisoners is a 'war hero' now?

Maybe by the GOP mucky-mucks who 'had other priorities' and their media lapdogs he could be considered a 'war hero'. I think the people who actually did take the King's shilling might laugh a bit, though, don't you? (er, the 'you' here is sgr2, not you SW--I don't know why I seem to have attached this post to your response)

8. no way
There is no way in hell DK could take the state. There are far too many redneck types in the south and west of the state that will choose Taft over DK even if they are pissed at Taft.

10. Taft will be term-limited....
The Repugs are gonna have the mother of all primaries, with Betty Montgomery, Ken Blackwell, and several other high-profile R's battling it out for the chance to be governor.

The Dems will be no different, with a big primary including several mayors and a few congressman.

BTW, I agree about DK, see my other post to Will.

9. Hmmmm, I'll give you an honest response from an Ohioan
He'd be better served running for the Senate against Dewine. 2006 is going to see a couple REALLY high-profile Dems running in a primary for the Governors race. Names like Sherrod Brown, Strickland from the SE, Coleman from Colombus (Mayor), and Jane Campbell (Mayor) from Cleveland are already in the mix. The Senatorial race on the other hand isn't really being discussed.

As for his chances in winning Ohio, it's a longshot. Outside of Cleveland he's really not very well-known and amongst those who do know him outside his district, his fav./unfav #'s are not very good. Mostly owing to his stint as Cleveland mayor where regardless of whether his fault or not, the city took a nosedive and took twenty years to recover. And the Cleveland media has been beating up on him lately, which will only get worse the longer he stays in the race.

Honest response.

I would almost bet Campbell won't run if Dennis does...she is a Dennis disciple and has been her entire life.

I don't think Dennis is going to run...I expect him and Springer to battle out the primary for Dewines seat in a year

right but, most of the time, he's just out of touch. If you doubt my words, look at his NAFTA/WTO stance.

14. He always did it grass-roots before, house to house, contacting people
where they live and work. The media there has always been against him,,,, something about a 15th century medieval editorial and reporting policy.

I'm sure he can do it again. Ordinary people support him. Unions support him. They know who's on their side.

EVERYBODY always writes him off early. He's always been the underdog in nearly every race he's been in.

Remember, he DID beat a Republican incumbant in 1994, a year in which the Dems got whupped everywhere.

Hmmm, is it just me, or could this be yet another "pile on DK" thread?

revcarol, you may need to add another $5 to your total!

politcian here in Norway agreed to stay up with me and watch the presidential debates. he concluded: "They are all rubbish.. Except for that Dennis character. I would vote for him. A true social democrat"

If I lived in DK's district I would've voted for Kerry. Does that mean that come November, I would be likely to vote for the Republican instead of DK?

Of course not.

I support Darlene Hooley as my congressperson, but I don't think I'd support her for the presidential nomination.

26. Actually he got 77% of the vote in the congressional primary
http://serform.sos.state.oh.us/sos/results/03-02-04.htm

22% isn't a whole lot, but it is a sign that there are a significant number of Democrats who would rather vote for an underfunded unknown rather that the incumbent. The district is pretty Democratic, so at best the Republican may force Kucinich to spend more time in the district than he has for the past year.

Instead of the mindless "dreamer" and "out of touch" stuff that just turns off DK supporters. Haven't people heard of someone being a visionary? Anyway, I think if Kucinich won 2 years ago, then he should be fine. People are LESS enamored with our War on Terror, where Bush is part of the terror.

I live in his congressional district, and he will not lose it, no way, no how. Republicans do not have a chance in Northeast Ohio, and you are obviously one of them hoping to stir things up. He will win in a landslide. The Republican sacrificial lamb is wasting his time here. In many races here, no Republican even bothers to run because they know they'll be slaughtered. Keep trying.
