I woke up today hopeful and optimistic. Here's how I'll go to sleep tonight...
I woke up today hopeful and optimistic.

Honest to god. I was some what confident because at work they've been talking about promoting me, things started to look some what better for John Edwards in Super Tuesday...so I was hopeful for my future for once in a long time. I felt a lot better about my chances to live the American Dream, and have the same opportunities that generations before me had.

I awoke and sat up in my bed. I looked at my John Edwards button on my nightstand, and let out a smile. I planned on getting up, grabbing something to eat, and going to johnedwardsphonebank.com to start making calls for Senator Edwards for the February 5th states.

Then I opened my cell phone.

Seven texts.

Well, I'm a college student so I'm used to waking up to texts. But seven?

I read the first one. "Jordon, Edwards is dropping out. I'm so sorry babe."

And then the second "Edwards is out"

Then the third.

The fourth.

Fifth.

Sixth.

And finally, the seventh.

All saying the same thing.

I won't go to sleep tonight with that same optimism. Not a chance.

John Edwards was everything this country needed and more. And I'm mad as hell, and sad all at the same time. I knew he probably wouldn't win, but it still hurts like hell and I'm depressed by the fact he dropped out just two days after I saw him for the first time and one day after I proudly got my name and picture in the paper.

I'm voting for him on the 5th. I don't care if it's Obama vs. Clinton.

I'm voting my heart.

2. I'm feeling pretty dashed, too

I'm voting for him on the 5th too. This is the first year that I thought my vote in California would matter in the primary.

3. Sorry, kiddo.
I understand how hope drives support for some lawmakers. Those are the candidacies that really hurt when they are ended.

4. Been worse news, I wrote a letter to the editor of the local paper about JE and were going to run it
They asked for my picture and a number to verify it was me.

And they were going to run it.

But now it seems with him dropping it out, it won't be published.

:(

7. I live in NC, so we don't vote until May
but I intend to cast my vote for him. Or I may do a write in. Either way, he will get my vote.

If Edwards name is still on the ballot when our primary comes, you're right--I will vote for him as well, but if not, as I said elsewhere, my support will go to Hillary Rodham Clinton. There are, in my mind, far too many things which Obama falls short on in terms of experience. I don't want to get into a war with the BO people, but I would rather continue having the choice to support my own conscience, one way or another. Hillary has been there already and knows what it's like--and while many can hate her all they want, they can't deny that she's got the ability to weather a storm.

Sometimes we do band together here.

He may have ended his campaign, but that campaign need not be ended. Not as long as WE are here!

Meantime - I highly recommend chocolate, hot tea, and petting a nice purring cat (or slobbering dog). And maybe something really mindless like The Three Stooges for a little bit?

21. Today I woke up and started to think about yesterday's news.
I was wondering how many day's ago did I read on here that Cate Edwards had been run off the road. Then I asked myself how many day's ago was it that I read on here that Biden dropped out, and how many days was it within that drop out that his wife was broadsided by a truck? Because I too had been optimistic about Edwards movement.
