Edwards dropping out means there will be no brokered convention.
...

The immediate consequence of Edwards dropping out is that he will not get delegates next week. He might get some here and there, as people could still vote for him and as many people have already done so in early-voting but he is unlikely to cross the 15% viability threshold in many places. That means that (1) Clinton and Obama will divide the delegates up between themselves, making it more likely there is some margin between them next Wednesday morning and (2) there will be no brokered convention. For that to happen required Edwards to get many delegates to prevent either of his rivals from reaching a majority and emerge as king-maker.

The million dollar question now is who Edwards's supports will migrate to (and whether Edwards will endorse): This is 10% to 15% of the electorate we are talking about, and it could make the difference in tight delegate races next week if the majority of voters go for one candidate. It is very difficult to determine if that is likely to happen and where voters might go.

1. If Edwards doesn't endorse Obama, Clinton will have the upper hand, unfortunately
going into super Tuesday.

4. It was Lieberman's endorsement that started the turnaround for McCain.
Endorsements can make a big difference. Maybe not to you, but others. Did you see how much better McCain did in Florida after Crist came out for him?

7. totally disagree re: Lieberman
there is zero evidence of that. Crist perhaps had a very small impact, but McCain was front-running in FLA before that endorsement.

That is exactly right
although with 20% allocated to the Super Delegates it is still possible that some shenanigans occur.

I would hoip that the SDs line up quickly. That may turn out to be the real benefit of the Teddy Kennedy endorsement

5. According to the MSNBC article,
Edwards will not endorse at this time. It didn't say whether or not he would before Super Tuesday though.

6. If Edwards garners enough delegates and it remains close between HC and BO then brokered is possible

8. Personally I would like Edwards and Dean to form a coalition
and bring the Democratic wing of the Democratic party back into play.

9. Well, now I can skip it
Clinton and Obama are equally rejectable or supportable for me, so I will not be voting for either and will skip the Primary fully. Walking to the mailbox is too much trouble for either of them. Frankly, I am not sure about the General either, and as a life long Democrat I am not happy about it at all. Obama has his homo hating pals he wants to invite to the table to discuss my rights. I can not vote for that, sorry to all, but that is not Democratic and I am a Democrat not out of brand loyalty but out of shared principles.
Today at age 47 I have no political Party that welcomes me and my family. I am not going to attend fundraisers and such with the new gay bashers speaking against me, so no more money, I will not risk showing up to be attacked, ala McClurkin/Obama. Forget it. Will hating on gays be part of our national celebrations under Obama? McClurkin preaching at inaugural events? No thanks.
I would like all the time and money I have given the DNC back please. It was taken under false pretenses. Expect no more.
This Party is now the GOP in too many ways.
