I think it's important for Obama and Clinton people to not go right to the "You need to quickly switch to my candidate" "Edwards dropping out means this to my candidate" or "Edwards should have done this a long time ago"
There's plenty of time starting tomorrow to urge Edwards supporters on ideas and Candidates.
Today what's most important is to look at Edwards the man and the candidate. For us to see exactly who he was and what he stood for. What's Edwards and his supporters mean to the democratic party. How his message should be shared and carried forward.
I think it's also important to talk with the Edwards people and really get to know their experience and their feelings. Whoever they choose in the upcoming week, they remain at heart an Edwards follower, through them the message of Edwards continues.
I also think we need to not so much today encourage Edwards supporters to choose a new candidate, but to encourage Edwards people to stay active in the whole primary and General Election process. To not stay home for Primary and General Election voting. To encourage them that being a democrat is bigger than being a supporter of one candidate.
Edwards supporters should be thanked for their time and ideas. They always kept a focused message. They always spoke of a mission to heal this country. They are what this party needs now.
John Edwards is an amazing man and I look forward to see him soon fighting for all of us Democratics and all of us Americans.
