****Official Obama Supporters Upset to see Edwards go thread
If your an Obama Supporter, and truly upset to see Edwards dropping out - please take a moment to Congratulate him for fighting the good fight.

For me, I'm very upset with the news. Edwards was my close back-up to Obama, and I felt the two meshed well together. I hope we can still look forward to some sort of Obama/Edwards union - if not VP, then a cabinet position opportunity or something. I think the two were great together, and I'm sincerely disheartened. I wish I could have seen John in the Debate tomorrow - and even to the convention. He fought a good fight against unbeatable odds.

2. If the decision is related to Elizabeth..
..some of us may have wanted John to drop out, but not because of Elizabeth's health. I want to know why he decided to leave... God bless them both!!

4. I'm completely bummed.
I was die-hard Edwards in 2004. I started out the '08 Campaign as die-hard Edwards too, and then right around the beginning of December I decided, or was rather compelled, to go with Obama.

Honestly this is a little heartbreaking. :-(

6. either one of these guys would have been my pick...Edwards a little more than Obama..
..but I would have been fine with either one...

I am sorry to see him go and hope he throws his support behind Barack Obama...I'd love to see him as the Veep or as AG in the next administration.

I will miss his passion and enthusiasm.

A true Democrat and a true fighter for the average American.

11. Definitely sad to see him go. I hope Elizabeth's health didn't play any part in it.
I think Edwards was doing a great job injecting progressivism into a race with a tendency to head towards the safe middle. Edwards' voice will be missed.

I feel bad for John Edwards and really hope the family gets to take some time with Elizabeth. Let's bring the message that John was bringing into the Obama campaign and aim our cannons at the agents against real change.

Bring it.

19. I am sorry for my friends who are Edwards supporters.
I can only imagine how I will feel if Hillary wins the nomination and Obama is forced to concede to her. If that worst case happens, Obama will probably have more grace than I will be able to muster for weeks.

But for Edwards, I can't say it was ever likely that I would support him, but I know people who did, fervently, and I am sorry for them that it ends this way.

22. This is a nice gesture. I've watched my two favorites fall away now,
as I've watched so many before them (no one, but no one, supported Bill Bradley more than I did!) and I'm feeling very hurt.

Thank you for reaching out. My husband is an Obama supporter and he's been gloating a bit. Nice to come to DU and see--yes, believe it!--civility and reaching out.

Thanks for this--and your man probably has my reluctant vote on Tuesday. This helps, I'll tell you.

26. Edwards and Obama were my top two choices.
They were both good on Labor issues as well as the other issues I care about. In my opinion, both men represent what is "right" about our country.

I am sorry to see Edwards stepping out of the race, and I wish him, his family, and all his supporters the best.

36. If you have lists then you would know that...
I've always praised Edwards. I've never had a bad word to say against him. And why should I? I greatly respect the man and really hope to see him as either a VP or AG.

He's a great man with a great vision for America, he deserves to be in a position of great importance.

42. Is this in response to me? or someone else?
You can check every post I've ever made about Edwards, and I've always stated that I liked him, he was my close second - and that I didn't want him to drop out. I felt what he was up there doing, and representing was very important - and that I feel he's received the raw end of the deal from the M$M. Now, HRC - I have no love for, and I'm not afraid to admit that. Edwards though - I really liked him.

35. Edwards is a true democrat
Edited on Wed Jan-30-08 12:10 PM by Big Blue Marble
with a little d. He understands that democracy is about the people. He fought for people
as a trial lawyer and a senator and a presidential candidate. He is a true American.

John was always my second choice and I would have been proud to vote for him.

Today I am sad for Edwards supporters. I know you put your heart and mind into his candidacy.
Be proud that you are committed to better representation and better government that Edwards represents.
Be proud that you are passionate Americans who care.

He won't have my enthusiasm as Edwards' message was my motivation, but he will likely have my vote.

41. Edwards has always impressed me.
I was hoping he'd stay in, as I've said many times on this board. He raised the level of debate, and his presence on the trail, fighting for what he believed, helped influence the course of al three campaigns.

Under-funded and under-supported, he showed up anyway to fight for others. The eventual winner needs to find a position for him to continue his life's work. I like AG.
