Note to Obama People -- Keep Edwards' Message Alive!
It looks like Obama stands to pick up a lot of Edwards supporters by default.

Congratulations.

Now, this is important. If you really want to benefit from this -- and if you want to benefit the country -- you ought to make sure the Obama campaign actually earns it by standing up for a few basic principles.

Don't take progressives for granted.

DON'T decide your candidate has to be more "centrist" or innocuous to get elected. Don't let the DLC sweetalk you into tossing the "left" overboard. Don't propose small answers to big questions. Don't turn to Wall St. as the only source of economic wisdom.

Acknowledge the truths that Edwards was pointing to about the need for the majority to fight the yoke of corporate power. Give us "hope" about SOMETHING specific, in terms of actual reform and change in our systemic problems. Acknowledge the need to make poverty a front-burner issue.

1. We will. He was my #2 this year and. . .
. . .he was my number 2 in 2004, as a matter of fact when Clark dropped out I had hoped to support Edwards but it was too late.

2. An OUTSTANDING idea!
If you want to join in and make sure John's message gets to be part of the Obama message, we need you NOW.

Obama is not perfect, but I think he certainly is willing to listen to ideas that John Edwards has brought into this election. It's got to happen. Let's get it done!

5. I'm not so much an O. supporter, but it'd be nice if O. himself took up some of the cause.
Maybe not attacking corporations so much as mentioning the need to enforce the rules and regulations to protect public and environment.

10. So would I but I doubt it
I think they could be an unbeatable combination.

But I suspect for Edwards, that would be a "been there, done that" scenerio he doesn;t want to repeat.

However, if Obama would commit to putting him into a meaningful cabinate position, like Attorney General it could be a next-best thing.

8. I was split between Edwards and Obama for a long time...
Elizabeth is someone a lot of us admire and care about. If this is related to her health it is heartbreaking. I admit I had hoped for John to drop out, but NOT because of Elizabeth. This was a cause they both believed in--which may have helped to keep Elizabeth going strong.

Right now I am thinking about the Edwards family with a sobering sense of sadness. I pray for them both.

9. Yes, do so. If you want our help with campaigning, then you need to start delivering Edwards' msg!

The words "Hope" aren't good enough to motivate me any more. Has to have some specifics!

Then again, I'm sure that corporate America will insist that having enough money for them will be enough to buy the way towards winning an election. <sigh>
