Today's Florida results prove Hillary is the only one to beat the GOP in November
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 08:36 PM by _Wayne_
My great state of Florida is the most important state in the Presidential election. The winner of Florida's delegates has won the last several presidential elections. If Gore would have won Florida, he would be President. Same thing with Kerry.

If this year's Democratic candidate wins Florida, the GOP can win the rest of the South and still lose. Exit polls indicate Floridians care most about the economy. Hillary is the strongest candidate, in voter's minds, to deal with the economy, mostly because Bill Clinton's well-deserved legacy as the one man to reverse trickle-down economic policy and create 22 million new jobs.

Also, a higher percentage of blacks voted for Hillary than did whites for Obama. This means Hillary will carry the black vote easily, and also steal some white votes from the GOP. Hillary is our best chance.

1. florida is important but in the case of gore.....
....had he won any other state, he would have won the election.

OH is an important big swing state just like FL.....had kerry won either OH or FL he would have won.

but yes, FL is going to be important this year, as always.

10. Not Again! Not Florida and Ohio AGAIN!!!!!!!
If the election is going to hang on Florida and Ohio AGAIN what is the point in having an election? They will just steal enough votes in those states to win like they did last time.

I doubt HC could beat McCain. I'm sticking with Obama since Biden is out.

5. Not if they steal it....
And they got corporate billions behind them...It is very possible for them to have the tools in place already.....Nothing was done in congress to insure fair elections so we could face an end to democracy theft again.

9. In all analytical seriousness, the GE will not have a
component of 38% women over 45 or 59% women either. Florida is a very good demographic for Clinton, obviously, but I'm not sure anyone should be so quick to extrapolate the results nationally in a GE where the demographics are much different.

That being said, I hope she can win a GE if she gets the nomination. The alternative would be unbearable.

13. I'm not sure if you know this, but
Obama didn't campaign in Florida, so it wasn't a real contest. As a fellow Clinton supporter, I can understand wanting to see this as a real victory, but it's kind of embarrassing to me. I'm not saying I've changed my opinion about whether to vote for her, but I just think it's a little underhanded, makes me feel weird!

15. Hogwash
Did you see the statistic that showed that half the voters chose Hillary and voted for her in early voting the month BEFORE the elections -- and that everyone who chose this year chose Obama?

Obama has the momentum, and Hillary keeps proving that her real "voice" is that of a do-whatever-it-takes-to-win, which this year will mean turning off African-Americans, voters under 40, and independents -- ALL of whom are flocking to Obama in droves.

Tonight more than ever, it's clear that I am afraid you are wrong.

Hillary as our nominee means more Republican rule, and that. Can. Not. Happen.

16. the OP reveals exactly what is wrong with the people in Florida

quote
My great state of Florida is the most important state in the Presidential election
unquote

In other words the people in Florida believe that rules should not apply to them. They should determine by themselves when
they are going to vote and everyone else go fuck themselves.

This is why Floridians will not have a voice in selecting the nominee this time. Maybe when you realize that this a United States and that the rule of law should apply you will stop acting like a spoiled child.

27. its determined by what ever group is the governing authority
saying that you are the most important state and that everyone is going to conform to your whim is exactly the

same hubris as George Bush and Dick Cheney thinking that they are the most important power in the country and they can

do everything they want to start a fucking war.

29. For a
"buddhist democrat" you seem really wrapped up in self.

Nobody invoked importance nor demanded conformation. Project much, bodhi?

Shit you've got a LOT to learn.

30. when people promote themselves as being

beyond the discipline of the group that is being wrapped up in self, my friend. I accept the rules as having more importance than

my sense of self.

Having spent 10 years working in refugee camps I am tired of the these jingoistic phrases like "only in America" or "My state is the

most important" I have no patience because I know what this egotism, this anarchy brings. Its the same narcissistic self that has

in another form powered this country to war. I have spent too many years in refugee camps to have any patience for it.

As for the signature line: I didn't realize when I was filling out the registration that it was going to appear but after I saw all

of the other Judeo-christian references I thought it slightly subversive or mischievous.

Your last line however is 100% correct. I never said I was a good buddhist and am constantly aware of how attached I am. You

obviously are someone who is far along the eightfold path and are and an expert in the dharma.

it's going GOP in the GE. There are a half dozen other states we can flip. I'm not worried about FLA. Oh, and Hillary is the only person who can light a fire under the GOP base.

24. Except primaries don't necessarily reflect general election results
The problem with that theory is that first of all the primaries are closed to independents I believe (I know the GOP one was), also you don't get to choose from a big list of both parties who you want to be the next president out of all 20 of them, so it's hardly voting for your top choice. Then there's the fact that a bunch of people probably stayed home knowing that their vote wouldn't count.

and thus not applicable to prognosticating a November result.
