Just got back from the polling place.
I was a little surprised to see two stacks of the "Voter Guide 2008 Presidential Primary" sitting on a table just outside the room where the ballots are cast. This guide is put out by the Florida Family Policy Council. It is online at: http://www.flfamily.org/uploadfile/Voter%20Guide%20-%20Jan%202008/English_final_proof.pdf

On one side the Republicans are listed and on the other side the Democrats. One stack had the Repubs facing up; the other the Democrats. So, they weren't left there accidentally. And they were the ONLY voter guides there. (There wasn't even a sample ballot available.)

On the bottom of the guide it informs us that "The Florida Family Policy Council is Associated with Dr. James Dobson and Focus on the Family."

I wonder if the placement of those guides is legal?

1. Doubtful. I'd make some calls about that.
Something happened at my polling location, and despite it being in the dem favor - I regret not doing the right thing now, and asking them to turn off the radio (listening to a progressive radio station next to voting booths). It was early voting, but still.

2. It shouldn't be - you're not supposed to campaign within a certain distance...
...from the polls.

3. Don't know about Florida
but canvassers have to be 50 ft from the polling place here in CA. I've never seen literature place just outside the polling room around here.

I'd call your election board. That really doesn't sound legal.
