1. Kerry was not my 1st choice.
In fact, not my 2nd or 3rd. But he is the democratic candidate, and so I will work every bit as hard to make sure he is elected this fall. Getting bush out of the White House will not solve every problem, but it's a huge step in the right direction. And it also helps avoid bush creating further problems with war, the UN, the federal courts, and my having to see his face in the media.

4. I would have been on Kerry too, if he voted against the war
I thought that Dean would be able to run in between the Greens and the Republicans. I thought Kerry was too liberal, lol!

I know from my GOTV efforts for Dean that Kerry has huge name recognition. He can win.

I think that Sharpton, Braun, Clark, Edwards, Dean, Leiberman, and Gephardt should all go out as a group to GOTV.

5. I, for one, am incredibly hopeful to see the emergence
of two grassroots activist groups that have boatloads of potential emerge out of two of the (failed) candidacies. I can not remember such a phenomenon... perhaps as an idealist recent college grad... my interest and energy for Hart could have been harnessed such that I would have done more than simply vote for Mondale (congressional races.. esp senatorial races... anyone???)

Why have so many people written off the ability to win House and Senate seats? A year ago, conventional wisdom was that no dem would have a shot at the presidency... look how that has turned.

What role can we play in helping translate the growing frustration, distrust... and even anger, pointed towards teh Bush adminstration towards the House of Represenatives... why is this not a year for another Congressional takeover?

I appreciate your tone - and wish that more folks would realize that there is so much energy out there - among those who have not yet moved their commitment to Kerry ... and they are needed - even if they can't work for Kerry... they CAN work for local offices (the pipeline) for congressional and senate offices.

heck we as a group can do that. Do we realize how much these campaigns cost? maybe we don't all have bottomless pockets to contribute to all races... but look at the research power here at DU... the power to craft message, flash animations, and the like... imagine some of that being offered to local races on a voluntary basis.

Believe it or not, despite the candidate wars that often left me very disheartened and fearful that the pulling together to work together would be very hard to do after people had thrown so much vitriol at one another (often spreading from one target to catching many many more), I am very hopeful this morning. Maybe Reagan was right (about one thing) but just premature... maybe we really can bring about Morning Again in America??

Discussing Kerry's willingness to fight Bushco the way it needs to be fought.

Josh Marshall seems to agree. (From last night)
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/week_2004_02_29.html#002623

snip>

The Kerry-Weld race was supposed to be, and in many respects was, the fight of Kerry's political life. And going into it there was good reason to believe that Kerry would lose. But he kept in it and fought and fought and fought and eventually won the race. His persistence and tenacity were impressive.

By national standards, it was a pretty clean race. But it was extraordinarily hard-fought. And since then Kerry's always struck me as someone who was a fighter, someone who'd never give up, give in, let himself get hit without fighting back or flag in the home stretch.

That gives me some confidence about this race.

Another source of confidence I have stems from a briefing of sorts I heard last week summarizing the White House's outlook and strategy for the coming campaign. After hearing it, I came away thinking that they're in a serious state of denial about how this election is shaping up.

the dominance of the return of the snide threads that are currently 'staying up' on the front page.

8. I remember that MTP interview
and I briefly supported Dean after that and the speech to the California Dem convention. He was the first candidate to shape this campaign and speak the truth about this maladministration. His anti-war message gave so many hope. Without him in the race, I doubt other candidates would have attacked * so intensely.

I suported Clark because I believe he is the one candidate who planned to take on the military/industrial complex. He was able to question Bush in ways that other candidates can't.

I see something intense and focused about Kerry. He really wants to win and give us our country again. His record on the environment and women's issues is extraordinary. I support him wholeheartedly.

9. I, too, considered Dean early as it looked like Kerry really
didn't WANT to be president at first, and of the field at the beginning Dean was the only other candidate I could get behind.

Once Kerry made the necessary changes to his team, he got on what I have always known to be HIS game and didn't disappoint me.

11. I've been on the Dean, Kerry, Clark, Kerry wagons in that order haha
We had a lot of quality canidates. I'm proud of all of them.
Kerry though regained my endorsement 2 weeks before Iowa when it seemed he was tanking in NH and coming to a surprise 2nd (or strong 3rd) in Iowa.

My how far we've come.
