If Kerry picks Gephardt we are doomed.
I heard Paul Begala mention it last night. Its Bad enough having Kerry on the ticket. It would be a full GOP Lite ticket and many would be turned off. Im sure the party apparatus would be giddy at the prospect, given their attitude towards maverick Dean (Who saved our chances AND the party). If Kerry is wise he wont pick anyone til the convention.

2. Don't believe the crap you are hearing from the talking heads
They are also saying he will pick Hillary Clinton.

Kerry will pick someone who not only will unite the party, but also be attractive to country

Gephardt would divide the Democrats, and Hillary would divide both

4. Just a thought
I think Kerry knows he needs to offer a fig leaf to some of the more active dems that tried to end his campaign last year. I do not think that would be a Gephardt. Clark on the other hand would make many happy, plus he showed the fundraising strength of Dean, he is great at attacking Bush, and I think he and Kerry go back a ways and get along well.

6. Either Clark or Edwards would be a winner and
it has nothing to do with geography. They are both outstanding.

8. I like Edwards
But I am thinking of the Dean, Kucinich and Clark supporters who are anti IWR vote. Kerry needs to think about them too.

21. Clark or Edwards would be strong - just imagine either one
against Cheney in debate...Clark would be the best all-aroud choice actually.

Gephardt would be hugely disappointing - put him in the Cabinet, not at the top.

5. GOP Lite?
Kerry has the most liberal voting record of any senator. Hardly GOP lite.

9. I think he'll try for Edwards
Being that they were nearly identical in platform and his appeal to Southerners I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll go with Edwards.

Seeing photos of those two shaking hands you can get a sense of the strong partnership they'd have.

Also sends Edwards is a young outgoing outspoken guy I see him as a VP that would probably be seen just as much as Kerry going around the country helping to boost morale, ect as opposed to old man Cheney who is easily the most invisible vice president I've ever known.

12. Gephardt can't deliver.
Nice man, had a good career. But he didn't deliver in 2002, and he was very weak in the primaries. I don't think Kerry will be looking to handicap his campaign. However, he could become Sec. of Labor in the new administration. As a pro-union democrat, I'd think that would be a good move. Clark would be best as Sec. of State. Edwards as Att. General."Unite the tribes, Johnny!" Kerry needs to show that he is serious about changing the course that our nation is on. That means showing respect to all of the forces that came out in the primaries. Yes, we need Dean! Health & Human Services. (I am aware that there have been problems with similar administrations in the past. But there have been successes, too. We do not have the luxury of having administration officials who are petty, jealous, vicious snakes! And the democrats included here can work together for the common good.)

13. it would be one of the most boring tickets ever nominated
The anti-war people (and yes they number in the millions) and people who might be tempted to vote for Nader would look at this ticket which would include not only two guys who supported the Iraqi resolution but one of them (Gep) helped write it and it is doubtful many of them would support it.

Call FedEx.

Gephardt no not him. No energy there. Hopefully this was not part of the deal to have the unions that had supported Gep to support KErry.

It has to be Edwards-Graham-or CLark

22. judging from speech last night
he's going to pick Edwards.
There were things in his phrasing that made it sound that way... when he said that Edwards had a long future in the Democratic party.

but I could be wrong of course.
just a hunch
