Clintons: It it works, it's right.

Kennedys: If it's right, it works.

Pragmatism vs. idealism. I'm in the corner with the Kennedys on this one.

1. Me too
It's more than just a difference in political ideology -- I tend to live my life the same way ("if it's right, it works") in all respects, but I see plenty of people around me living by the "ends justify the means" philosophy.

14. Yep, Clinton's fatal error when he took office..
If it looks like a piranha, swims like a piranha, and has an agenda like a piranha; it's probably a Republican.

3. American history would disagree with idealism. Politics as usual has never been changed.
Ever.

9. Why try to change the nature of politics? It's the nature of politics.

Oh and the democratic way is to fight over issues and then vote.

12. Maybe it needs to be changed.
Politics as usual is what got us where we are. Nothing to be proud of and crow about.

7. That was interesting. And true, I think.
It would be nice to have a little idealism again instead of the same old grubby politics as usual.

11. Clintons: the end justifies the means.
Too much like the Republicans for my taste. I'm in Kennedy's corner too. Call me an idealist - I don't give a shit! :D

15. Oversimplification: the best way to view anything.
Especially the adoption of Obama into the Kennedy dynasty. (A dynasty is OKAY if it's Kennedy/Obama.)

And it goes without saying that Obama believes "If it's right, it works" which is both charming and dubious. Define "right." Define "works." And then show me any evidence to prove the thesis.

With Obama, it's all an act of faith.

But I know too damn much about the history of religion to yell "Hail, Barry!" after the beautiful theatre piece staged by the Kennedys today.

18. Kennedy Obama Dynasty????
LOL, because of endorsements? Sheesh, even while all the Robert Kennedy clan supports Clinton......this is just ridiculous. Bush Clinton Bush Clinton=dynasty--mot endorsements of an outsider by two relatives of an assassinate president from 1963, while the rest of the entire family splits.

16. That does seem to wrap it up neatly.
I'll have to catch KO later tonight on line and see that segment for myself.

I'll take ideals over tactics every time, too.

17. I saw that - a similar sentiment
The ends don't justify the means. The means are the end.
