Hillary Clinton: "I was honored to run in South Carolina... and it was very close...."
WHAT??!!!

http://www.memphisflyer.com/memphis/Content?oid=38513

The high side of that, of course, was that the overwhelmingly Caucasian crowd was enthusiastic in its reception of Clinton, greeting her extended - maybe over-extended - remarks with enthusiasm and peppering her with questions until she had been on her feet answering for well more than an hour.

Like Obama in his appearances since last week's stormy televised debate involving the two chief Democratic contenders and the still hopeful John Edwards, Clinton avoided direct attacks on rivals and concentrated her fire on the Republican incumbent in the White House, George W. Bush.

The second odd thing about Clinton's appearance came during that extended Q-and-A period when someone, late in the going, finally asked her to comment on the just-concluded South Carolina primary, in which Obama had trounced her by a margin of two-to-one.

After a perceptible pause, she began awkwardly: "I was honored to run in South Carolina... and it was very close...." What came after that startling denial of reality was a series of stated resolves about keeping on keeping on, mixed with hopeful platitudes aimed at the larger Democratic constituency.

21. She's in it to spin it alright. "It was very close" (to a massive loss) "Americans
are the hardest working people in the world" (if you don't consider non-Americans to be people) "Saddam has WMD's" (at least he did years ago that we gave him before the first UN inspectors documented the dismantling and removal of 96% percent of them)

I can't say she inspires in me a whole lot of trust.

18. Her speach were around 8:30 p.m. Saturday night, all results were not in by then
But in hindsight...that statement was not the best...
Especially because Obama pundits will use binoculars on her words...

22. And because at 8:30 it wasn't close at all.
Hill will and does say anything because her voters refuse to hold her accountable for what she says.

They blame her ill-regard for the truth on binoculars, pundits, and voters for other candidates.

26. I watched the speech on C-Span.
The comment was made during the question and answer session. I can find links only for the formal part of the speech. But, I am certain that she qualified the "it was close" statement.

31. Calm down. She meant between her and Edwards. That's why she ran back to S. Carolina--
she was supposed to have left for good early in the week and let her co-candidate do the campaigning there, but when a poll came out mid-week showing Edwards within 4 points she came flying back into South Carolina to hold him off. It was close, but she did it.

32. We are very close to winning in Iraq too
So very close, just another 6 months, and then maybe another 6 months, followed by a cooling off period of say, maybe 6 months, then and only then will we be so very close to victory. So close we may only need another 6 months to achieve it.

I guess its takes a whole village of experience to say SC was close. If only she had another 6 months there to campaign, ah well.

"mixed with hopeful platitudes aimed at the larger Democratic constituency."

Aimed at a larger dem constituency? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! The Hillary unity checklist:

1)alienate every poor person in America by being a corporate milk sop............CHECK!
2)alienate every working class person in America by supporting more free trade and outsourcing.....CHECK!
3)alienate everyone still mad about NAFTA,TELco act, and slavefare by continually waving Bill in our faces...CHECK!
4)alienate minorities.................CHECK+++!

Woohoo! She is going all the way with the Fix-o-dent crowd! FIXODENT and FORGET! A slogan for the 2000's! Go HILLARY!

Being a part time atheist is rough. Sometimes things get so bad I find myself praying to the gods to please stop laughing at our stupidity and actually do something. So I've been praying: Give me JOHN!

I think my prayers will be answered: Welcome President John MCCain....... :puke:
