"Ted Kennedy placed the mantle of his brother's legacy on Obama's shoulders."
LAT: Kennedys endorse Obama
By Johanna Neuman Times Staff Writer
January 28, 2008

WASHINGTON -- The keepers of the Camelot legacy - the family of President Kennedy, who inspired a generation of Americans with his soaring rhetoric before his assassination in 1963 - embraced Sen. Barack Obama for president today.

In a rousing speech at American University, Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) called Obama, a freshman senator from Illinois, a leader "who can lift our spirits ... who has the power to truly inspire and make America great again." With Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, President Kennedy's daughter, and his son, Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I., at his side and with other members of the Kennedy family in the audience, Ted Kennedy rhetorically placed the mantle of his brother's legacy on Obama's shoulders....

To an exuberant rally of students at American University, Kennedy recalled the promise of his brother's leadership in the face of elders such as President Truman, who argued against turning the White House over to a new generation. "Have the courage to choose change," Kennedy thundered. "It is time now for a new generation of leadership. It is time for Barack Obama."

Obama called Kennedy "the lion of the Senate" and thanked him for his endorsement. "I know the cherished place the Kennedy family holds in the hearts of the American people," he said. "His endorsement is more than just politics to me, it's personal." Though too young to remember JFK - he was born in 1961, the year Kennedy was sworn in - Obama said he took inspiration from the legacy of Kennedy and his brother, Sen. Robert Kennedy (D-N.Y.), who was assassinated while seeking the presidency in 1968. "They inspired my own sense of what is possible," he said.

Schlossberg, who first publicly endorsed Obama in an op-ed article in the New York Times on Sunday, said today that the Illinois senator offers inspiration in the same way that her father had. "He is already inspiring Americans, young and old, to believe in ourselves," she said, adding that her three teenage children had been the first in her household to alert her to Obama's promise....

5. Kennedy probably sees it differently- maybe he thinks its the American voters who will look stupid
if they fail to elect the person who wears the Kennedy legacy on his shoulders.

Just sayin' . . .

9. OMG. That's just a tad over doing it...don'tcha think? How schmaltzy can they get?
How is he inspiring young and old to believe in themselves? And even if he is doing that, how does that make him the best candidate for the Democratic Party? The man is a Moderate/Right of Center candidate. He wants to play nice with the thugs who have RUINED this country. How does THAT make him an inspiration when he should be screaming for Impeachment and Indictments?

Now, after the repukes have created this freakin' mess, he's going to let them walk free and then expect the country to come together and play nice? That's insane. We have a CONSTITUTION. These people must pay for their crimes and now Barack plans to take another knife to the G-d damn gun fight. The repukes will never stop plotting and planning their endless rule of this country. They will never stop thinking of ways to undermine the Democratic Party and Barack actually believes that if he plays nice with them that they will just go along to get along? How naive can you be? People need to remember how we got to this place in our history. We have always just brushed the Pat Robertsons and the Jerry Falwells aside thinking they were silly and harmless. We never took these insane people seriously and look at where we are!

Our country is GONE. Now, we're expected to turn around and do the same damn thing AGAIN just because someone says he can bring us HOPE???? Are you freakin' kidding me? What happened to the Progressive Democrats on DU? Where did they go? You do know that Obama is not a Progressive, right? This whole movement thingy with Obama is just freakin' scary. I see no hope in our future unless and until we have someone who is willing and ready to take these thugs to the mat for all they have done to our country and who is willing to restore our Constitution to being the law of the land. Letting criminals walk away AGAIN like NIXON and REAGAN and BUSH I did....cannot be allowed, yet the giddiness I see here for Obama, doesn't seem to take any of these things into account. WHY? Is there something he said that I missed? I don't think so. I've emailed him before about this. He is my Senator. I asked him if he would Impeach or prosecute these criminals and his reply to me was..."It's time to move on from all this bad politics. We need to move the country forward and come together." You all know the rhetoric...

Well, I say BULLSHIT. CRIMES have been committed and those who committed them should pay for them. Doesn't anyone care that they have shredded our Constitution and Obama will just let it slide? Well, I care.

I don't ask for much. If Obama would just say he would make these criminal pay for their crimes, I would be happier with him as our candidate.. Honestly. Is that a lot to ask of a Presidential candidate? I don't think so.

He has a 100% Planned Parenthood rating. I think he's charming. I think he's very intelligent. I think he has a wonderful sense of humor. I think he's handsome as hell. He has a wonderful smile. I think he's basically a nice man, naive, but nice. He has a wonderful wife and 2 beautiful children. I've met him in person. I like him as a person, but that doesn't necessarily mean he is the right man for the job...at this time. We must have these criminals pay for their crimes and Barack has no intentions of making sure that happens.. Doesn't anyone else care about this?
