Wow! What a Momentum Shifting Day!
I must say that I was a bit nervous about the fallout of South Carolina. I thought maybe the Clintons could pull off one of the nastiest political tactics since McCain's illegitimate black baby. You'd probably have to go back to Johnson's "Daisy Nuke" ad to find something so bad on the Dem side.

Add to that the momentum clinton got from New Hampshire from the faulty polling - what should have been a story about her crumbling firewall somehow became a come from behind win.

I got anxious because the media floated several stories about the racial mix of the South Carolina win. But the media narrative has already moved beyond that and the shorthand has become the hellacious ass-handing it now represents. I've read several articles today with "landslide" and "trounced" featured prominently.

With Clinton campaigning in Florida under the radar, I was worried that her win would give her some spark. But the media has already begun priming the story as another in the long list of underhanded tactics by the Clintons, who are beginning to see their dirty campaigning techniques stick like toilet paper on a shoe.

Finally, I also feared that Obama got off message by taking the Clinton bait and starting a tit-for-tat dustup. I didn't know where he was going to regain his momentum before Super Tuesday.

Well, you couldn't ask more than a luminous endorsement by Ted and Caroline Kennedy. I wasn't sure how much it was going to mean until I heard Teddy speak. He rips apart the Clintons for their tactics and really gives a Kennedy glow to Obama (who already shined).

Toni Morrison's same-day endorsement only adds to that. She also subtly tears at the Clinton campaign's legacy and gives a ringing, poetic tome that comes off like Oprah with some intellectual heft.

The thought that Kennedy sounds fired up and will be campaigning vigorously for Obama in some of the trickier communities replaces my earlier jitters with a real sense of excitement.

16. It's about making people want to get involved. To make public service
a meaningful pursuit, instead of a chore that no one wants to undertake.

Nothing to fear when the MSM anoints your candidate.

Obama is clearly the Chosen One. He is, after all, the Messiah.

You do right to worship him.

8. Its simply acknowedging what the opinion of many is the best candidate
the one who can return America to a prominent place on the world stage and heal this country.

Hillary has proven that its merely about POWER with her. Her heart is not in the same place. That has become obvious over the last few weeks.

She and Bill have given the media a hell of a lot of ammunition. Only she is to blame for her poor judgment and poor management of her campaign and its message.

21. You are doing a great job. You are driving people away from Clinton and I thank you.
Yours is a thankless task. You masqurade as a Clinton supporter while undermining her through vindictive and bitter commentary. You constantly remind people of why they might not want to support Hillary.

Keep up the good work! I think it is making an import contribution to driving people out of her camp and keeping them out in the first place.

22. Definitely a "preaching to the choir" thread. And quite a sour choir it is.
Edited on Mon Jan-28-08 02:08 PM by Perry Logan
Kinda jangling to hear all the "hope" rhetoric, sandwiching the most egregious bile. As always, the people who hate the Clintons think the whole world suffers from their malaise. The Clintons are the villains in the movie of their minds.

26. Great post, Doc! I thought the MLK day debate was when things changed. The Clintons
thought they had won by dragging Barack down to their level for a little mudwrestling, but all it did was accentuate Hillary's negatives by reminding people what they didn't like about her before she cried. One of Barack's supposed negatives was that he wasn't tough, but going toe-to-toe in the debate helped him a lot. And Hillary looking like she needed her husband to put her in the White House wasn't a rallying cry for feminism.

After the dust cleared, Barack showed he was able to lift himself up and elevate to a higher level. His speech Saturday night was pitch-perfect, yearning for a higher place, yet strong.

31. The only thing that has shifted is the polling showing HRC
even with obama's win in south carolina it has been some help to HRC. What will obama say after he goes down in defeat of more then 15 states on 2/5.....

If I were running this campaign I would say this to all those who jump on obama's band wagon and have shown such contempt for HRC over these past several weeks and that would include ted kennedy too...I would say to anyone that asked:"We're gonna get the votes we need and we're gonna win this thing. And you know what I'm gonna do after that, I mean that very night, I'm gonna go to Sam & Harry's, I'm gonna order a big steak, and I'm gonna make a list of everybody who tried to fuck us this week."

34. Maybe they will have the same vindictive nature as you
So don’t lose hope yet because your wishes might come true. The campaign might see vengeance to be as valuable as you think it is.

I could only imagine what the campaign would be like if you were running it. I really hope you are quoting some movie I don't know and that this doesn't accurately represent your own thought process.
