For those familiar w/ Kerry's voting record...what will Bush DISTORT?
An obstacle Kerry will have to overcome is the fact that he has hundreds of votes that the repugs can sift through and distort at their leasure. They will pick one item in a bill that was "good" and slam Kerry for voting against it when the bill on a whole may have been bad...or visa versa. Like what they did with Cleland on the Homeland Security bill.
This is probably why it is rare that a senator/representative gets elected president.

Any examples that Kerry fans know about?

4. Kerry's solid on that issue. Different times require different measures.
There was a Cold War period and a post Cold War period. There were illegal covert dealings and wars that needed to be dealt with and legal maneuvers.

Kerry will come out just fine. He was a debate champ at Yale and knows how to prosecute a case. Don't fret.

5. Bush will distort whether the sun comes up if it behooves him
I'm sure Kerry is ready for it. He is a seasoned debator.

6. There is no bigger flip-flopper and waffler than the shrub.
He has, in the last four years, taken stands for and against free trade and fiscal restraint. Remember when he said nation building was wrong? Even G.E. Timmy hit him with the quotes on that. He hides from his own investigative committees, of which there are several. He distorts and twists bad economic news. He is ignoring the Pentagon report on global warming.

Those are only a few of the things Kerry can hit him with, when he distorts Kerry's record, or makes things up.

Kerry needs to get facts, figures and quotes on all these things, and just keep hitting back hard. He can't let them set the agenda, or control the debate.

7. OK... here goes
* will distort his votes thus:
- as Anti 2nd Amend
- his abortion votes targeting specifically partial birth
- his Reagan years defense votes
- his Reagan Years intelligence votes
- he will counter all IWR, Patriot, Nafta with Kerrys vote on such
- He will exploit Kerry's activites after Vietnam
- He will pound his "tax increase" votes
- He will pound him on the Death Penatly
- He will pound him on his anti DOMA vote
- He will pound him on his Teddy Kennedy lock step votes.

Thats off the top of my head.. I'm sure roveco will dream up stuff well beyond that .. not to mention stuff they invent from thin air.

9. yep
Sounds about right.

I didn't even bother noticing until a couple of weeks ago that Kerry is against the death penalty. How come that hasn't been brought up yet? That's red meat for repugs. Remeber what a big deal it was in '92 that Clinton was for the death penalty? that earned him some votes down here in the south.
Oh well, one more reason why Kerry won't win a southern state. :grr:

18. The south likes killin'?
Is that it? Gotta' be for guns, war and the death penalty or the south won't vote for ya'. Well if that's the case, no thanks. I don't want to live like that.

8. won't have to distort...

Kerry voted with the repubs pretty often..., "welfare to work," the "patriot act," the war, etc...

The trade agreements that Kerry voted on have produced "superfund like sites" in other countries, like China.

Both Bush and Kerry will try to hide what corporate America, and consumerism, is doing to the environment.

10. Rove is NOT going to make kerry seem like a repuke
Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 12:05 AM by zwade
that will not be the strat.. the strat will make him look like ULTRA left and a Teddy Clone and Focus on Mass. Stuff, way farther than he is to Ensure his stable south.. and perhaps some potential swing states .. NM, OR and even POSSIBLY CA for instance.

The last thing they will do is make him seem conservative.. that is counter productive to their goal. Any vote with repukes will be used to buffer Bsh from kerry attacks.. not to make kerry seem conserv.
