Discussion: MINNESOTA
Did we all attend our precinct caucuses tonight? How did everything go?

I attended my caucus in St. Louis Park and they were overwhelemed. They had at least 20 different precincts jammed into one cafeteria and were said to have had at least 10 times the number of people than the last year.

Needless to say I am a delegate for the district convention and can't wait!

1. Attended in Minneapolis.
It was great. 217 people attended (by the Presidential vote). We probably went through 20-25 resolutions, but didn't discuss many of them at length as there were so many of us. We couldn't get started until 7:30-7:45 or so because people were still pouring in. We had a visit from our state rep., Phyllis Kahn who said she had been visiting as many precicnts as she could and found an overwhelming turnout at everyone, including those that included large student and immigrant populations.
All in all, I couldn't think of a better way to spend a Tuesday evening (maybe that just means I have no life) and I too will be a delegate at my Senate district convention on April 3.

4. huge turnout in St. Paul
Just got home from my caucus in St Paul, MN. In my precinct out of 58 votes it went 50% Kerry, 26% Edwards, 22% Kucinich, and 1 vote for Dean.

There were tons of people flooding in there. There seem to be big turnouts around the state & country...and that spells trouble for Bush and probably also spells trouble for Repubs on local & state elections too.

That's great news.... sounds like an exciting caucus. The big turnouts there are *really* encouraging!

And, thanks, Minnesota, for your support of Dennis... great news!

7. 28 people - population of 3,400
not steller, but not horrible. We worked up several resolutions to send up to County - my favorite was in essence, that Whereas Education Secretary Rod Paige knows little of education, it should be noted that Minnesota DFL observes that the NEA is not a terrorist organization.

We had ample slots for me to go to the County convention. Loking forward to that.

8. Central minnesota reporting in
We had two precincts in one room because the other precinct couldn't find a convener.

Out of the two there were 3 Edwards, 6 Kerry, 2 Kucinich, 3 Undecided. I voted for Kucinich because I figured Kerry was going to win anyway. My daughter said I was so two- two faced (does that make me four faced) because first I campaigned for Clark who I really believed in, then I campaigned for Kerry, and then I voted for Kucinich.

I am a delegate to the county convention because our precinct had 8 delegates and only 6 people in attendance.

Resolutions were for affordable health care, against privitization of public services, against the death penalty, a couple of tax issues, and one to allow more resolutions from the county to the state convention.

My sister's caucus was

11 Kucinich

4 Kerry

1 Edwards

My mom and dad's was

8 Kerry

1 Edwards
