A sense of deja vu
In 1988 I participated in an Iowa Caucus. There were about 400 of us in the high-school auditorium. Dukakis and Bruce Babbit both won in a tie vote, and Jesse Jackson came in third. Gephardt was not even viable.

It was close to midnight when we closed - I had to stay for the end, was elected as a secretary, or something - and excitedly I drove to Babbit's HQ, only to hear in the radio that Gephardt won, Babbit was fifth. When Babbit told me that he was going to New Hampshire I wrote him a check on the spot (could afford this in those days).

Fast forward to 2004 in a very small Minnesota precinct caucus of about 24 people. Edwards won! And he tied with Kerry next room. Only to drive back home - before 9, thankfully - and to hear that Edwards is leaving.

I am heart broken. Edwards was a shining moment in the campaign. All I hope that we have not seen or heard the last of him. That either as a V.P. or not, that he will come back for another run for the White House. We need a person like John Edwards.

Thank you, and all the best.
