Wingnut talking point: "You just hate Bush"
I see a similar version being pushed here to label people who don't think Obama is the second coming.

One can disagree with a candidate WITHOUT hating him or her.

I keep being referred to as an Obama hater and a Hillary bot. Just because I am not all giddy about Obama does not make it true.

I've said it several times -- I wholeheartedly support whomever gets the Democratic nomination. 200%.

But just because I'm not ga-ga over Obama does not denote hatred towards him.

I'm just being real.

1. For the sake of the Party I will not vote for Hillary...she's such a queen she will fire Howard Dean
And that will shatter the party.

2. I know just what you mean, and it's getting more and more
infuriating. I'm not supporting Hillary, and so that automatically means I'm a self-hating misogynist. Drives me CRAZY!!!

27. Hey Cat, what is this hominy commercial that gets talked about from time to time?
Everyone complains about that ad. It's just corn soaked in lye, I don't even like it. A lot of my hispanic friends make soup out of it, which I can't stand. They call it posole. But what is the deal about that commercial?

or Survivor.

It is disheartening to see posts devoted to trashing DU posters who like an opposing candidate. ( On all sides).

What is that saying about getting the government we deserve?

7. Actually I DO "just hate Bush"
And I don't use the word hate lightly.

But I take your point about our Democratic candidates. Some supporters, (Obama's in particular, lately) have the attitude that disagreement=hate.

13. Lots of freepers in disguise - and very young, naive posters
I guess when you dominate a forum in numbers, it gives you a sense of entitlement.
You want to punish dissent. or at least to criminalize it.

but I was being accused of it from Day One (from the wingnuts, that is).

15. I won't argue with you...
that some people may go about a difference of opinion the wrong way. But I don't think any candidate is without their share of those. Edwards and Hillary supporters are no exceptions. I think largely, we are following the lead of political campaigns in general. The political environment became very volatile and heated after Bush's "appointment" in 2000. The climate for political debate has turned to one of ad hominem attacks and animosity, rather than heated exchanges based on ideas. For 8 years, we as Democrats have had to suffer an onslaught of accusations - from having our patriotism questioned, to having our sanity declared non-existent, to being called irrelevant and short on ideas. We have been in defensive mode for 8 years, and it's difficult to just pull back after such a long time and try to maintain a civil discourse.

Just give it time. Things will heal as they always do. In the meantime just try to realize that despite the variation in some of our temperaments, we are still the party of progress and ideas and our candidate will always champion the better cause.

17. But I DO hate bush!
And I say that to anyone who brings the subject up...:D

As for our candidates, I liked Richardson...best resume, most varied experience, smart man; but he just didn't take off.

I'm sitting these candidates out until I see the bickering, posturing and foolishness end. The first one that starts acting like an adult will get my attention...:)

I won't say I'll support them outright until the Primary is over, if they keep this stuff up...but once the candidate is nominated and accepts, they get my support. I refuse to toss my vote out the window, and I'm certainly not going to cast it into that hellfire pit the GOP has come up with.

19. Do you think your "side" of the HRC/Obama struggle is without any of this?
Do you honestly think "HRC supporters = pure of vitriol" and "Obama supporters = shallow and hateful"?

Do you not see problems on both sides of this?

but it appears, to me at least, that the abundance of the vitriol is coming from the Obama camp.

Just IMHO.

26. Well for the record
I do hate Bush - really what's not to hate - he has caused SO MUCH DEATH AND DESTRUCTION

on a very emotional heart not head level I do hate Hillary - and this is because I use to LOVE HER and she has disappointed me beyond words - however - truthfully I don't hate her - but I don't especially want her to be President

I don't hate Obama I think he makes a fine Senator from Illinois and maybe down the road would make a fine President - I am just not too trusting of him...

and finally

I like John Edwards - not completely crazy ga ga over him but in relationship to the other two I am completely on board with him....and think he is doing a great service to my wing of the party

that being said I will vote for the Democratic nominee in November.

sadly there are only a handful of Dems that I can say I truly LOVE and RESPECT - since the IWR vote and this entire freak in chief's administration the Dems have let me down so often and especially after the '06 election - it has been truly hard on me - SO disillusioned
