3. I WANT to get behind Kerry....
...I hope he remains as principled during the general election as he did in the primaries and doesn't do the conventional wisdom bullshit of "moving to the center" etc. I want a nominee with a backbone, and I think Kerry has the potential to be another FDR. Unfortunately, there's also an equal chance he can be another Bill Clinton (and I DON'T mean that in a good way).

Only time will tell, and I'm going to give Kerry every benefit of the doubt. Once Bush is gone, we can argue the nuances that make some of us disagree with each other, but until that time LET'S KEEP OUR EYES ON THE PRIZE!!!!!!!

5. You know
SOMETIMES a move to the center is just one big show for the GE.

SOMETIMES after they win the Presidency, they move back to the left or right.

Think about it.

Think real hard.

6. Good point about W moving right after...
....portraying himself a "compassionate conservative".

I just want Kerry to be a bold, visionary leader like FDR was. Kerry has the experience, intelligence and the stature to be such a leader. I don't want him to be a wishy-washy centrist who can't accomplish anything.

You can't fault a guy for hoping for such things.

7. I don't; I believe John Kerry more than anyone
Has the ability to rectify the problems the President and his Administration have created. Whether or not he moves to the center during the campaign is irrelevant to me; I mean, he already has moved to the center, if you consider some of his rhetoric about gay marriage an attempt at centrism. But after the election he will begin to govern how he sees fit.

Abraham Lincoln ran as a pro-slavery candidate for Congress; both his parents were abolitionists, and he more than likely shared that sentiment. Same tactic. Appeal to whatever will get you in. And I think, in the eyes of history, that understanding the fickle mind of the voter worked out well for Lincoln and America, even if it did eventually get him assassinated.
