Endorsing the losing candidate so you can later endorse the winner too = Good politics
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 06:07 PM by Proud2BAmurkin
Most politicians need the votes of the Clinton backers and the Obama backers when they run the next time. It makes sense for them to figure out which one will probably lose the nomination and endorse him, knowing they can also endorse the winner of the nomination later and everybody's happy.

Didn't Gore endorse the popular Howard Dean and then Kerry? Everybody was happy.

Clinton is to endorse her opponent.

I would not do so lightly.

29. Gore's 2nd endorsement ALSO LOST. I didn't then see him
endorsing Bush.

Of course, if people had listened to Gore in the first place and backed Dean, instead of working to sabatoge him, President Dean would be running for his 2nd term right now.

But no, like Edwards today, Dean was 'too angry'. (And the DLC despise him.)

Senator Kennedy just thinks Obama is the better candidate? Especially when just yesterday you were talking about why and how Kennedy wouldn't endorse Obama.

49. Ok that is so ridiculous
I use to head the endorsement efforts of an environmental group. One important factor was electability/viability - these recent run of endorsements have come because the endorsees think that Obama will eventually be the nominee. An endorsement in the general for a Dem by a Dem is a given and next to meaningless. Therefore an endorsement in a primary IS SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT - these people are endorsing Obama BECAUSE they think he will be the nominee - and because they want favor with him if he does -

Come on folks look at the timing Kerry comes out after Iowa - Obama has the big mo - and Kennedy's come out after SC - couldn't be more transparent.....
