1. Here it comes.
Hillary wanted this endorsement very badly. And Kennedy had hoped to stay above the fray.

But Hillary and Bill's recent behavior disturbed him enough that he is giving an endorsement to Obama.

And you can't stand it so you minimize it. I think Aesop had a fable about that type of rationalization.

Of course if Hillary had gotten what she wanted, you would have thought that was so great.

2. actually I'm not a fan of either
just stating this cause this is the soup du jour and I think endorsments don't mean anything. We have enough of the establishment tellin us how to think I'm not gonna let another individual sway me, especially after I have made my mind by looking at the issues, voting record and personal opinion. In other words, I'm going to think for myself and don't care who teddy endorses but I am a fan of him and am glad he found one of the major candidates he can feel comfortable with.

4. I agree that often they mean little.
This is a big, big one and I do think that it has two significant messages.

1. The Clintons are not helping the future of the party with their shenanigans and they should cease their attacks.
2. The states of NY, NJ, and Mass are full of Kennedy Democrats. If they have not already, they will now take a
serious look at Obama and his message for the future of the party and the country.

12. Absolutely, if there is a unification of the party, Ted Kennedy is the one that
can pull the party together. This means a lot for the party. Outside & the republicans, doesn't matter as much if any.

This is a big deal. Way to go Ted.

14. Rich Senators are in a world removed
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 06:36 PM by neutron
from the rest of us. They see things as part of great social change.
Kennedy and Kerry are so fabulously wealthy they don't have to worry
that they're taking a risk on a sweet faced smooth talking fellow without
much experience under his belt.

We are the ones who will feel the brunt of the economic cluelessness that
Krugman of the NYT has pointed out.

16. deal with this: My Senator endorsed him and he's
not rich- not even close. No stocks, no bonds, no fancy cars or houses. 96th wealthiest Senator, despite 34 years in the Senate. Comes from a working/middle class background. Is even more liberal than Kennedy. What do you have to say to Patrick Leahy?

3. Yep, it's all just part of the game the powers that be play.
They fear the day people start thinking for themselves.

13. Not by endorsements, I love TK
He and Feingold are my favorite senators, but I'd support Obama even if he they both endorsed someone else. I know enough about the candidates to make my own decision.

5. I adore the Kennedys...
I think a lot of people do. Carolyn's endorsement of Obama will only help him. Ted's endorsement, not so much, but I don't believe it will hurt him.

7. Let us see if it helps Obama in Mass.
when both of the long-time Senators with great political organizations are
campaigning for him.

8. You don't endorse someone for president just because you like them IMHO, it's because you think he..
or she would make the best president. It matters.

9. It directly addresses the Experience question
If Obama's experience is attacked he can respond to it more easily now.

Should play well in states like California too.
