It's a great day to be a Democrat
After a long, hard-fought campaign, we now have the nominee. He's a solid liberal with tons of experience. He can beat Bush. We are very lucky to have him.

To the rest of you, who want to whinge and moan because your guy lost, I say: poop.

Join the party or leave, but quit blocking the doorway.

1. Hi again Dookus. We've talked before. I agree with your statements...
about John Kerry but many here at DU are going to run the line
that he's your typical DLCer who is no better than Bush. We have to
counter this nonsense NOW!

Good hearing from you again!

I missed the press release from the democratic party announcing the candidate. Isn't that supposed to happen at the convention?

Of course, I can see the confusion; after all, Bush called to congratulate Kerry before the polls closed in most states, when most votes hadn't been counted. If Bush calls it for Kerry, it must be true.

It was a great day for me; I got to cast a vote for Dennis Kucinich. I consider that a win/win; a win for me, for being true to myself, and a win for my country, offering someone willing to step up and vote for the best regardless of what anyone else thinks.

If you like, I can leave now. If voting, campaigning, calling, and fighting for the best is "blocking the doorway" for democrats, I can graciously bow out and leave it to the "real" dems.

Are you sure that's what you really want?

Speak now, or forever hold your peace.

7. No objection here....
If you can't get behind the Democratic nominee, then this probably isn't the party for you.

Don't be a party pooper! :toast:

12. Missed the point by several miles.
I'll vote for the democratic nominee whether I like him or not; the other choice is Bush. Duh.

If I don't care for him, I may not be celebrating, donating, etc., but he'll get my vote. Whether that vote is cast as a democrat or as an independent depends entirely on whether the party values my presence.

Is Kerry the nominee before the rest of the states vote, and before the convention?

Are GWB and the media now in charge of announcing the nominee, or is that still the role of the democrats at the convention?

Does Kerry now have enough delegates to get that nomination without the other states voting?

I don't have to "get behind a nominee" before there is one.

15. Kerry is the best candidate we've had in many a year
He's tough, mature and he's liberal. Jimmy Breslin called Clinton a Republican and a half during the '92 campaign. It had to do with his running back to AK to execute a retarded person. He was, however, by far the better of the two choices we had at the time. Now..we've got a real one and one with the kind of experience to navigate the dangerous waters ahead. His come-from-behind campaign inspires faith that he has a team that can fight against tremendous odds. I'm psyched!!!!!
