6. It's down in FL--he's probably trying to scrape off some of the historically Democratic Jewish vote.
Why else would Joe be down that way? He's likely using what he learned on the road with Al to help Johnnie boy...

13. If McCain gets the nomination, I'll bet Lieberman will be his VP.
Ucch - I could just puke at the thought.:puke: :puke:

18. It could be a winning ticket, too. Another "first"--a Jewish VP.
The evangelicals would eat it up--a step closer to the Rapture, after all.

And Holy Joe needs a new job--he knows this is his last term as the Senator from CT unless he formally switches parties.

32. No chance in hell Lieberman wil get the nod, I think Huckabee's gonna be thier VP pick.
If the repukes pick a moderate like Lieberman, the Talibornagain wing may just throw up thier arms shout "The Republican Party has abandoned us!" and stay home, or in an extreme case, go third party. The RNC higher ups know that their fundie wing is losing patience with the Republicans. They need a fundie like Huckabee on the ticket to keep them from jumping ship.

I think that it would be much more likely that if Lieberman's gonna be involved in the presidentail race, it'll be with the Unity '08 movement.

34. We'll see. I give it better than even odds. They're VERY WELL RECEIVED in FL
Why do you think Holy Joe, from CT, is down in FL, stumping for JMcC???

It's a tryout. It could be a winner in NY, too.

40. Absolutely. He could flip NY, too, if the nominee isn't Clinton.
Hell, even Schumer would be a half-hearted endorser if Holy Joe were on the ticket. The figures don't lie: http://www.adherents.com/largecom/com_judaism.html

We've had a race card, a gender card...why not a religion card?

All these people griping about cards aren't playing with a full deck, anyway!!!

11. No. Don't switch. We need him for our MAJORITY in the Senate.
That's why he stays in the middle--because he's an attention-seeking ASSHOLE, who likes to be fawned over.

And this is his last moment to shine, too. And he KNOWS it.

Once we have a decisive majority, we CAN tell him to go fuck himself. But not now, not yet.

7. Well, why would he introduce a rival on the other team?
I think what you mean is "Why wasn't Lieberman introducing Obama instead?" perhaps? Owing to the mentoring relationship Obama had with Holy Joe?

Looks like Joe has chosen, and he prefers his longtime Senate pal to his more recent former protege....

27. Really? That's very strange.
Edwards is a tried & true Democrat who will - without reservation or questions - support and campaign for the party's nominee. If he doesn't win will you call him a traitor - and cheer when the Republican takes office in Jan?

EVERY one of our Democratic candidates is better than ANY Republican. Period. If you don't believe that - all I can say is get yer head out of out of yer butt. This isn't a game- there's a real world with real consequences for every human being. Your choices are freedom or slavery. If you don't support the Dem nominee then you allow slavery to win.

28. Oh puh-leze. Those may be your two choices; they aren't mine.
Some people find it acceptable to cast a ballot for someone they think will damage their party and the progressive agenda. I do not. I'll play no role in that.

...and bringing us all together. What a load of crapola. That's called selling out the Democratic/progressive agenda, and it's apparently what many are willing to do because they like the idea of "hope" more than they like the idea of fighting for what America needs. We've already seen how well the negotiating and compromise and making nice works. Watched D.C. much since the mid-terms? Anybody that buys into the Obama myth is in for a huge letdown if he's elected.

33. Don't be surprised if he RUNS with McCain, if he gets the nom
"The Odd Couple" meets "Grumpy Old Men."

The cautionary tale in all that--both movies were BIG HITS.

And Lieberman is already vetted as, and unfairly denied the title of, "Vice President" in the eyes of many.

42. I don't know about that.
He isn't only the Republicans in Congress' favorite Democrat. I know several Republicans who voted for him in the last election (Senate) instead of the Republican candidate. And on some other boards I frequent Republicans who trash every other Democrat say only nice things about him.

Just think how that ticket would look though. Geritol, anyone?

LOL

He's sadly mistaken if he thinks repugs respect him. And of course, he should know by now that the people of CT won't even be stupid enough to re-elect him. Delusions of grandeur much?

36. He knows he'sdone in CT--that's why he needs a new gig, delivering FL for McCain.
And posing as the "reasonable moderate"--vetted by the Dems as a VP, and now acting as a UNIFIER and a healer, 'bridging the divide...'

AND...he's a "FIRST" too!!

It may be vomitous, but that's a strong rationale, there.

Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 07:54 PM by MADem
There are a shitload of Republicans in upstate NY. And their is a substantial Jewish community in and around NYC. IF HRC isn't the nominee, you could see historical Democrats crossing party lines to vote NOT race, NOT gender...but religion.
