Kerry isn't for Universal Single payer health care...so my family continues to get deeper in debt.

Kerry isn't for Universal College Education...so my tuition continues to drive ME into debt.

Kerry isn't for gay marriage...my gay brother cannot get married

I want 100% correctness, and there was ONE candidate who offered it

27. You will never have 100% correctness. You might as well vote Bush.
Simple math. In the general election, if you vote for anyone other than the Dem nominee, you withhold a vote for the only person who has a chance at defeating Bush. If you can live with that, knowing that Bush 'won' the 2000 election by a few hundred votes, more power to you.

Idealism is admirable... to a point. This is no ordinary election. This is do or die for America. I and millions of your fellow progressives implore you to reconsider.

67. OSP, I still support Kucinich-
I make a single plea here, and if you choose not to accept it, I have no hard feelings. Here's th plea-

This one last time, please cast your November vote for whomever the Democrats nominate. Yes, likely Kerry and I'm not at al happy about it myself, but right now, I'm FAR more fearful of the steady blood-bath from a second Bush term. I've made up my mind what I'll do and I'm asking you to consider it for the good of everyone in this country- one more lesser evil vote, just one. My intent is to vote for the nominee and then head straight for voter registration and change my affiliation to Independent.

This I will do because I love this country and I love humanity too much to contribute to even a slight chance for Bush to get another term. Does that make sense?

61. A few points:
1. His name is Kucinich.

2. His supporters have always known he would support the democratic nominee if he didn't win. That's who the man is.

3. I haven't heard him drop out of the race and endorse Kerry. Did that happen, and I somehow missed it?

4. Come to think of it, did I miss the convention where the nominee will be chosen? Have we cancelled it and crowned Kerry today?

Yes, I trust DK to run the country. No, I don't trust Kerry to run the country. Of course, my distrust of Kerry is less than my distrust of GWB. Put Kerry up against GWB, and he is an easy winner. Any of the 10 original contenders would be. I don't loathe any of them; I don't think any of them would best serve the nation as compost.

125. Don't forget: Kerry still needs 999 delegats for a 1st ballot nom...
This thing is NOT over yet. There's still 20 states who haven't spoken, and with Edwards out of the race, there may be some re-evaluation among some of the anti-Kerry factions.

There's still a strong progressive movement in this party. I saw Dennis Kucinich sweep the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul last night, and hold Kerry to under 50% in many more places.

I'm going to my county convention, and, Allah willing, to the CD and state conventions, too. Maybe even to Boston, because I believe that the only way this party is going to WIN in November is if we pursue a strong, people-first, progressive agenda.

Maybe DK will end up as the "protest" candidate, but you know what? I honestly don't give a flying fcuk right now. All I know is that in Minnesota, we put on a GREAT showing with NO SUPPORT WHATSOEVER from the party establishment and a campaign organized and run completely by amateurs.

To me, that's victory enough!

And Zip in the way of real electoral reform. Democrats don't even know where to start to make the system fair. All they know anymore is what they DON'T like.

Truth be told isn't this the kind of politician your ilk are more comfortable with:

I voted for Kucinich and now I'm supporting Kerry all the way !!!

But I see no reason not to agree with Nader when he's right ... it's one thing to argue against those, or even ban those, who plan to vote for Nader ... but to close your mind to good ideas he presents and alienate many who like his anti-corporate message but will still support the dem nominee is foolish ...

would you criticize Nader for making the following statement about how Kerry and Edwards reacted to Greenspan's insane call for cutbacks in Social Security benefits ??

source: http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0302-02.htm

The Chairman (i.e. Greenspan) has serious trouble criticizing the corporate state, including doing anything about the consumer credit abuses that the Federal Reserve directly is supposed to stop, like predatory lending. Reaction by the Democrats - John Kerry and John Edwards - was one of proper outrage to Mr. Greenspan's remarks. In their mind they may have been regretting why President Bill Clinton re-nominated the Republican Greenspan to another four-year term in 2000.

If Nader had any real concern for the values of the Democratic party, he wopuld have tried to run as a Democrat. That Nader has neither the temerity or testicular fortitude to try and effect change from within the party tells me that he has no place in this discussion.

not party powered. As Dennis noted in the LA debate (I think), the Democratic party refused to put single-payer into their platform.

And, I'm thinking about the commercials that say, "we make the products that make others better."

Nader makes both the Republican and Democratic parties better. I'm still impressed with what a near GP win did in SF for gay marraige!

there's no point in pissing off undecideds and progressives who are not yet registered Democrats. There's plenty of time for them to come on board.

Nader's motives are obvious and any intelligent person can see through him and realize there's no future in supporting him.

For now, are you referring only to those who support Nader, also to those who insufficiently denounce him, or to all non-Kerry enthusiasts?

Thanks in advance.

58. Does this mean we have to thank bush for scaring voters this way?
Seriously. Would we see such an interest in this party if it weren't for bush's outrageous suckitude?

When the a sports team or athlete wins due to the failures of the other team, I always seem to notice that it wasn't a real test of their abilities.

Perhaps it would help for some to remember that and not get too arrogant about bringing in possible third-party voters.

115. I only registered Dem so I could vote in the primary....
I don't consider myself a permanent Dem. I will probably switch to independent (or no party declared) because I'm certainly not seeing in the Democrat party what I had hoped for. The idealism and the passion has been squashed by the party machine, with all the good candidates being forced out early (i.e., Dean, Clark). Good thing DK stayed in for the long haul.

I'm not saying I'm going to vote for Nader, but I'm certainly going to listen to what he has to say. November is still a long ways off.

134. what Nader people
Seriously - where are they? I'm thinking there are less than a handful. Don't equate those who stuck up for Nader's right to run with Nader support - because I also stuck up for LaRouche's right to be in the debates. I'm not a Nader supporter or a LaRouche-ite, but I believe that everyone has the right to run.

A guy from my town ran for prez in 2000. A guy a few towns away ran as a Republican this year. He stood out in front of the polls and played the fiddle. He got about 300 votes, statewide.

I think you're confusing those who believe in equality and inclusiveness in the Democratic process with being Nader supporters.

Someone did a poll last week and about 4 people voted for Nader. Is that really so threatening?
