Latino LA congressman (U.S. Rep. Xavier Becerra) supports Obama

(01-27) 00:06 PST Los Angeles (AP) --

A Los Angeles congressman has announced that he is endorsing Barack Obama's bid for the White House.

U.S. Rep. Xavier Becerra, D-Los Angeles, says in a statement Sunday that he supports Obama because he can appeal to all sectors of the American public.

Becerra serves on the House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee and, as the assistant to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is the highest ranking Latino in the House.

4. He's one of the more minor Congresscritters from CA.
He isn't very well known or popular. He ran for mayor of LA in 2001 and got 6%. He's not particularly "of the people" being a Stanford educated lawyer. He's asssistant to Pelosi so it is an indicator of where she stands.

3. Great news.
Thanks Representative Becerra!

This should help with a key constituency.
