Clinton to Stop in Fla. on Primary Night

Clinton to Stop in Fla. on Primary Night
By Patrick Healy

On CBS’s “Face the Nation” this morning, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton confirmed that she would be in Florida on Tuesday night for the results in that state’s primary.

Mrs. Clinton and the other leading Democratic candidates had foresworn campaigning in Florida or officially participating in its primary after the state unilaterally moved up its contest on the nominating calendar.

Senator Barack Obama’s campaign has criticized Mrs. Clinton and her team for suggesting that she might undertake a political effort in Florida in spite of her pledge not to campaign there. The Clinton camp, meanwhile, has criticized Mr. Obama’s campaign for running some commercials on cable television in Florida (which was included in a national ad buy that the Obama campaign made).

On another front, responding to reports that Senator Edward M. Kennedy is preparing to make an endorsement in the presidential race, Clinton advisers said on Sunday morning that they did not expect Mr. Kennedy to endorse Senator Clinton.

1. Smart move
and it's not campaigning there, unlike the ads Obama is running.

2. Once again, tell me when and where Obama has campaigned in Florida
I live in Orlando, one of Florida's major cities. Maybe I've missed it, but I don't recall Obama having any campaign stops here. The rethugs were all over this town last week, but I don't recall seeing Obama or any other Democrats down here. Surely you can refresh my memory.

Oh, btw - Obama's autobiography is being stocked by local bookstores here. Should I ask them to remove them until after the primary? After all, someone might actually read one of his books, and we can't have him campaigning like that, can we?

3. He has not campaigned there.
He purchased ad time on national cable, which happened to reach a few FL voters. DLC approved.

4. Don't try reason with supporters of HRC, does not compute. Cheating and dishonor are the name of the
game they play. And they wonder why people are beginning to despise her.

8. Those Obama ads are also running in Iowa...
I guess that means that Obama is campaigning here in Iowa, three weeks after the caucuses.

:eyes:

12. I said three things:
It's smart of Hillary
It won't be considered campaigning there (as it's AFTER the vote) and
Obama has ads running in Florida.

Which one of those is false?

5. Can you read?
where did I say he did campaign appearances in FL?

I said he's running ads there - which is true, and he's the only candidate to do so.

7. Barack's Campaign Ads Broke DNC Rules
I live in Florida and Barack runs ads on CNN every day about every 3 to 4 hours and this was part of the agreement with the DNC not to do. That said, I'm glad Hillary is coming to florida after the voting is finished. Even if our votes don't count, at least she cares enough to show up afterward.

10. DNC Disagrees with your viewpoint
They were national buys and cable news companies could not just cut out one state. It was all or nothing. DNC agreed with Obama.

11. Hillary said she will be here 3 days.

I doubt Alex would lie, but looks like they did not have her back. Making her look bad.

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/palmbeach/floridapolitics/entries/2008/01/26/three_days_in_fl_for_hillary.html

"Democratic Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton will return to Florida tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday, Florida CFO Alex Sink said today in an interview with The Palm Beach Post.

“She said she would be in Florida I do expect her to be in Florida,” said Sink, the only Democrat in a statewide elected office. “I haven’t seen her schedule and don’t know what she’s going to be doing, but she will be in the state.”

Clinton has fundraisers scheduled for South Florida and Sarasota on Sunday, but her campaign denied plans to campaign or be in the state in the following days.

“She’s definitely not there Monday,” Clinton spokesman Mo Elleithee told The Post. “She will not be campaigning in Florida on Tuesday, either.”

In a statement Saturday, Clinton said she would seat Florida’s delegates at the national convention if she won the nomination and added, “I will of course be following the no-campaigning pledge that I signed, and expect others will as well.”

13. More
"Florida Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, the only Democrat elected to state office, said Clinton called her Friday morning and said she would be in Florida on Monday and Tuesday.

"She said she would be in Florida. I do expect her to be in Florida," Sink said. "I haven't seen her schedule and don't know what she's going to be doing, but she will be in the state."

14. So basically Hillary is telling the DNC to F**K OFF!
If she goes to Florida tomorrow she is campaigning. She has no respect for the DNC or their rules. That is why the Kennedys and John Kerry is turning against her. She is taking a scorched earth policy.

15. CNN Just Said
Hillary will be going to Florida TUESDAY NIGHT. Thank goodness they got something right concerning Hillary. She's in I think it was Tennessee right now. That said, has Obama sent out messages to CNN that Hillary will be in Florida on Monday? Just curious.

16. Would it be OK to say
Hillary is taking a "scorched earth policy" after she goes to florida instead of assuming she will be in florida on monday? I mean, can we wait for the name calling until after the crime is committed???
