Good morning! On MTP I have had the dubious pleasure of watching four mega rich white people
talk about what black voters "want" and what they "think". With utter and complete certainty.

They are apparently getting paid very large amounts of money because they "understand" black voters and aren't afraid to say so.

They are a bit irony impaired in that they really think they are the "spokespeople" for that particular demographic.

Is there ANY MSM Sunday morning political show that at least attempts to provide something other than race/gender baiting?

look away.

Boy, if there was anyone who fit the "talking head" model it's Russert.

And, on edit, I'll just have to quit cold turkey. Except to watch a Dem candidate for pres., who hopefully will finally tell Tim to shut up and ask a question.

Only, with a tad of diplomacy, of course.

23. At a certain point in time you don't have to watch because you figure out
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 12:47 PM by higher class
that they are nearly 100% predictable. If they go over or under expectations - it will be posted on DU and may make youtube - so you really don't miss anything - AND - you don't have the spinning anger in your gut. You know it's going on, but you don't have to experience it. And there is great pleasure in knowing that you have not watched the advertising of their sponsors.

I watched MSNBC for years because I kept trying to figure out what was happening to tv and if what I was hearing was real? I found it was real, realized that it was 100% slanted against (me), learned who the operatives were, learned about the foundations they represented. It all came together - a grand batallion helping their war effort - the war on me, against me.

25. I was puttering around, doing morning stuff with MTP in the background. I did hear McCain hearts the
sacrifices of "our young people" in uniform.

He was exceedingly awful, from what I did catch.

3. Clinton insulted black americans in South Carolina
She brought Black politicians from NY down to SC, to tell them who they should vote for. my Black friends were not happy about that. The last thing people down in this area want is to be insulted like that by someone from up North. It backfired

26. That's pretty funny -
the Clinton campaign used the local South Carolina Dem organization. The Obama campaign built their organization from scratch with imports from Chicago and elsewhere.

You have been rolled by the Chicago machine. Congratulations.

4. Welcome to the punditry.
I can't think of a single ethnic group, income group, gender, etc. that has not heard some pundit telling the world what that member of that group thinks.

It happens all the time. There's nothing unique about the situation you describe.

thing regarding the Latino vote. A bunch of talking heads, spouting their "expert" opinion on the Latino vote, who have absolutely no understanding of that community.

19. That's true, I heard a quick mention of the Latino vote by Russert. I guess even the MTP
panel isn't so dense that they don't recognize they couldn't even begin to make anything up that didn't sound self satirical when discussing that particular voter bloc with in any length.

F**ing race baiting creeps.

Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 12:41 PM by MissWaverly
I left during the McCain and I always do what's right for America, he gives the same speech all the time, how no one has figured this
out scares me. It is the clueless Sunday Talk Show. The GOP have been sound leaders and fiscal managers for the last 8 years,
that's why the world and the US is on the brink of financial disaster and the Middle East is a cauldron of violence and misery.

30. They're just as bad
This week, at least, they had Donna Brazile on - but their commentary is usually just as lily-white as Meet the Press.

Nothing like watching white folks sitting around on Sunday morning talking about black folks, is there?

20. Right in line with the constant harping of a proud racist, Pat Buchanan, touting the success
and wonder of the race-baiting campaign against Obama. It is thoroughly disgusting and beyond me that the networks allow this garbage to be spewed as intelligent commentary.
