88. Sorry, but it's the last three years that count!
Kerry's recent record shows that he sold his soul to the same masters that Bush answers to: the Fortune 500 (and their dastardly lobbyists). Kerry votes conservative, but campaigns liberal. Sort of like Bush campaigning moderate, but turning out fascist.

Sorry DUs. Our ruling elite have made damn sure that we have only one choice even though we have two candidates. Wake up and smell the coffee.

56. I tell ya,
I have been terribly torn by the whole Kerry thing. I moved to Mass. right before Kerry came back from Nam. While I have been totally committed to Kuchinich, I have to say that in all my years of voting for Kerry I certainly remember more good about him than bad. I have my issues, (and I am still committed to Kucinich and his ideas), but I still *like* Kerry and the stances he has taken here in Mass.

party politics is all about falling in line--at the polls. If the Dems don't get together at THAT point, then why bother.

with all respect to you, it is not your job to make the kind of call you did. Until the primary forum is closed the forum exists to be used to speak about the primary. Still some states must vote. I am sure you would like to just move on though.

I am not yet sure how many dels Kerry has today. He may not have the required amount to be given the nomination by default. Thus, he still may NOT be the nominee. (sorry to disappoint you) There is no reason to silence those people still fighting, even if you want them to surrender to your candidate.

69. Rove says it's both
And sadly, plenty of people on both the left and right will believe him.

Out of the left side of his mouth, Rove tells progressives: Kerry's not one of you. He's sold you out. He doesn't support your agenda.

Out of the right side of his mouth, Rove points to all the progressive votes Kerry's made in Congress. Votes that the lefty-left ignores because 1) They agree with them and they're not that interesting; 2) They take them for granted; 3) They're distracted by whatever wedge issue Rove has cooked up recently. Republicans, however, pay attention and they see the Massachusetts liberal.

Rove is playing both sides against the middle - and by reading a lot of the rhetoric here, he's having a considerable amount of success.

I vote for the man who is the best fit for my political agenda. I am not one of the "sound bite" voters whom Rove manipulates. Thanks to sites like DU, I am pretty well informed about what the candidates say and what they have actually done.

Today I voted for Kucinich. In November I'll vote for Kerry unless a Green Party or Socialist has a platform that is more appropriate to my politics. I am a swing democrat, baby.

We rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you don't like it maybe you better tell Kerry to swing more to the left before Nov. rolls around.

This article shows that as far as Iraq's concerned, Kerry and Bush are two peas in a pod:

Howard Dean is more hawkish than Senator Kerry. Kerry has a long record of voting against pork in the bloated pentagon budget, including cancellation of the trident submarine, the B-2 bomber, star wars, and other items. He also busted Reagan on selling weapons to terrorists and voted against Gulf War 1.

Some of us have believed in and supported John Kerry for years. I understand it wasn't your choice, but to presume that everybody who believes in this man is some sort of DITTO MONKEY is absolute sour grapes and worse, it is dismissive.

In closing, while I sympathize that your chosen candidate didn't do better...you have a lot of fucking gall.

My choice was NO LESS INFORMED and passionate than yours. If you think voting for George Bush is the same as voting for a senator with one of the most liberal records and one of the best environmental records in the senate after 3 and 1/2 years of scorched earth policy, then YOUR vote is NO MORE INFORMED than those you accuse.

Snippy, snide ugly and smacking of condescension.

You should think about changing your name to "Lady MacBeth" or something. You and a few others will be washing your hands a lot in 2005 should the chimp win..

Other than that, a question: do you support any of the Democrats running in this primary season? If so, do you trust that person? And if you do trust that person, why do you selectively ignore their urging of you to vote for the nominee? While I don't know specifically about you, I've seen a ton of cognitive dissonance among the "I'm-taking-my-ball-home" crowd.

134. So, you would prefer Bush full?
While Kerry's recent voting record leaves a lot to be desired, he has a long history of serving his country at a level that neither you nor I, Diane, will probably ever achieve. He deserves your respect. At the very least, he does not deserve to be compared to Bush in any way.

I respect Howard Dean and may have voted for him if he were still in today, but he was not a particularly liberal candidate. Look at his platform. Dean is a centrist.

It's this kind of holier-than-thou crap that ruins us. Drop the idealism. Howard wasn't perfect. None of them is perfect. Would you actually prefer Bush?

Cite more evidence of your contempt for Kerry or end this pointless divisiveness. It doesn't serve any good for you to rehash the recent past that we have all rehashed a thousand times. Look at Kerry's complete record, and prove you have an attention span beyond this week's news crawl.
