Anybody else think Chris Mathews is being..........
Edited on Tue Mar-02-04 08:42 PM by onecitzenBtrayed
particularly snarky tonight? Either he is on drugs or he is schizophrenic, IMO. He seems to be very angry at the Dems again tonight. Geeesshhh I wish he'd get on some medicine. His routine is making me weary.

3. Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you hear him with Hoffa REFUSING to shut up about gay marriage?

Incredible. Hoofa was beautiful, and I must say, those are three words I thought would never pass my lips. Stuck it to the GOP big time, "Chris," he said, "When people are worried about jobs, WEDGE ISSUES DON'T WORK for the Republicans," and that damn near a direct quote.

SHEEEESH.

When Pat Bucnan is the voice of reason (at least he asked Hoffa about Kerry's Nafta votes), you know Tweety is bonkers.

7. Thank-you
Not just Hoffa. He's been snarky with just about everyone tonight. That poor little embed he made fun of may give up on her chosen profession. It just is not necessary. He isn't impressing anyone(I don't think). Then he went after that Dem Congressperson and was rude to him too!

12. Hoffa squirmed.....
when Buchanan started talking about NAFTA. His excuse for backing Kerry after Kerry voted for NAFTA was really weak. Kerry's record on issues like this is really going to cut him out at the knees if he tries to make unemployment an issue. This was really stupid to get behind someone as weak as Kerry. Unfortunately now, the democrats will pay the price. This is exactly the kind of opponent the repugs wanted, and it makes me sick.

17. I saw that segment....
and I thought :wtf: Matthews is like a pitbull -- he chomps down and won't let go. Hoffa handled it well though.

Gay marriage is a hot issue now but not the most important issue going in the country. There are issues that affect everybody like the economy, jobs, the preservation of Social Security, health care and Iraq
.

But he voted for Bush in 2000......he's not very impartial if you ask me. Maybe you're watching in a parallel universe or something.

6. He's suffering from cognitive dissonance.
On one level he's a Puke, through and through, but on another level he hates that piece of drooling shit, and wants Kerry to win. Inner conflict leads to a grouchy attitude. :D

13. Established Dem? I would take 20 Rush Limbaughs Over 1 Matthews
I'm sorry to have to disagree with you, but Chris Matthews to me has very few qualities. Apparently, he has the ability to sucker some viewers in by making them think he supports some progressive views. Where Rush lets you know exactly where he stands, Matthews is more seductive and subtle, making his viscious and usually unfounded slimes of Democrats appear to have a greater ring of truth. But I remember how he treated Kucinich on his show, repeatedly shouting at him about abortion without letting Kucinich open his mouth. Just 2 weeks ago, Matthews said point-blank, without presenting a single shred of evidence, that Wesley Clark would not be the VP because he was "unethical" and a "Clinton mole" or spy. Just tonight, Matthews said that John Edwards stayed in the race one week too long, this after building Edwards up before and urging him to keep running. It's all hubris on his part. He also said that Edwards' future in the Democratic Party may now be in doubt, because Edwards lives in a big expensive house in Washington, D.C. and will no longer be able to claim that he is one of the people, a southerner, and a populist. I also find Matthews habit of interrupting everyone about as disgustingly uncivilized and grating as Bush's primitive ramblings. Chris Matthews is not a person to admire. He is an established whore who is only concerned with obtaining interviewees within the power structure. He is not an established Dem, although he keeps repeating his stock phrase about the fact that he was Carter's speech writer nearly 30 years ago. The best thing Democrats could do would be to write each of Matthews' sponsors, urging them to withdraw their support.

16. You're certainly not flattering yourself
and your judgment about Matthews by finding that he's "dead on" when he makes statements about Clark being a Clinton mole without presenting a shred of evidence. Do you like "journalists" who don't do homework and don't bother to back up their outrageous statements? Do you like "journalists" who build up a candidate like Matthews did with Edwards, encouraging him to continue in the race, only to delight in tearing him down afterwards? I hope you have a better explanation of your opinion than saying "dead on". How is anything that Matthews says "dead on"???

9. Oh, it's easy to understand

The last of his kind- the photogenic, moderate-to-conservative thin-on-substance Democrat in vogue circa 1975- got voted off the Presidential Race island tonight.

15. Matthews is a VERY strange pundit.
He went ga-ga over the flightsuit, and is viciously anti-Clinton. Something about him being passed over for Press Secretary?

18. This is only the beginning...
He's going to get snarkier in the months to come so be prepared. He's probably getting a lot of pressure from the Republicans to help them get their *message* out.
