Newspapers are much more balanced about Obama's win than MSNBC's love fest
Every newspaper article in the country will have an * by the results. 80% of the black vote. 25% of the white vote.

http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-carolina27jan27,0,3866781.story

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Barack Obama romped to victory Saturday in the South Carolina Democratic primary, a landslide powered by African American voters energized by a chance to elect the nation's first black president.

The win, the most lopsided of the campaign, gives the Illinois senator a big lift heading into the coast-to-coast balloting Feb. 5. He once more demonstrated strong support among young and change-minded voters, who helped set another record turnout.

The choice in this election is not between regions or religions or genders," Obama told a boisterous crowd in Columbia, which repeatedly interrupted his remarks with their cheers. "It's not about rich versus poor, young versus old, and it is not about black versus white. This election is about the past versus the future."

But the outcome of the Democratic contest, after a week of racially charged campaigning, also pointed up divisions that flew in the face of Obama's message of unity.

The Illinois senator won four out of five black votes Saturday. But after finishing a strong first in Iowa -- one of the whitest states -- he carried a comparatively modest one-quarter of South Carolina's white vote, exit polls indicated.

They Swiftboated John Kerry, destroyed Howard Dean, and are trying
to kill off Clinton.

I'm not going to pay the salaries of the bastards who are doing this.

6. if you watch MSNBC they would tell you Obama was the second coming
The newspapers are telling the story. Obama won by a lot but because of the African American vote. South Carolina is not representative of the country.

13. Well if SC isn't representative of the country, why do you use the white vote there as an example?
You've said that Obama doesn't get enough white votes in SC, so that means he'll have trouble everywhere. Well, white people in SC are not the same as white people in NH, Iowa, or any other state.

You can't have it BOTH ways.

11. The pundits are doing their job...
by beating on the Clinton's and building up Obama for the GE. Once the GE comes, Obama will get 10 times what Gore and Kerry got.
The msm wants to sack us with a loser.
And yes, there is a racial divide in SC. The numbers show that to be a sad fact. All of you left wing politically correct dimwits can F***-OFF because race was a factor in SC.

14. They (MSNBC, CNN, FOX etc) are so thankful someone,
anyone, came along that might be seen defeating Hillary Clinton in the primary, so yea, they love Obama now, but wait until the GE (if Obama wins the PM) they'll viciously turn on him. Poor guy wont have a chance in hell.

Why is it that people touting Hillary's progressive credentials turn out to be fucking right wing dimwits?

15. Well, in SC it WAS about race.
A candidate who wins 75% of votes of one race and only 25% of votes of another race, means that he did win on racial grounds.

I'm not disparaging Obama because he is a strong candidate, but in SC his race won him the primary.

How ridiculous!

Why don't you discuss the extra 250,000 new voters? Want to?

21. They count for as much and should. That is why Obama won
But only an idiot or liar would say race was not a factor in the result. Edwards won the white vote but was at 1% among blacks, despite winning the black vote in SC just four years ago. His record is exactly the same as it was then. Obama got 81% of the black vote but was a distant third among whites. Yeah, race didn't matter. :eyes:

but they're not representative of the majority of the country. We know that Obama crosses racial barriers, my point is that his overwhelming win in SC was not precisely surprising. Ever since NV we saw that he got the majority of the black votes while Hillary & Edwards split the white votes.
