95. No. But I just always have a problem with candidates doing the "it doesn't count when I lose" meme.
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 11:26 PM by Ken Burch
If HRC's people had fought a high-minded campaign in S.C., and were accepting that this really was a legitimate big win for their main opponent, they wouldn't be getting that kind of response.

HRC should have just started her speech with something like "I heartily congratulate Senator Obama on his decisive win tonight. He fought a good campaign and won fair and square". Instead, slipped in a half-hearted concession at the end and she tried to act like S.C. didn't count. That kind of tactics should be left to the other party.

Frankly, I'm not thrilled with either them. But then, the progressive candidates got forced out of the race by the media, so I haven't really got anybody I can throw in with right now.

Finally, when you use a term like "fucking ignorant assholes" to refer to people who simply happen to disagree with you, you aren't in a position to make sarcastic comments about what is and isn't "classy".

I don't give a crap about how Hillary conceded, arguments can be made against all of the top 3 in the 4 primaries held to date.

If this post was the only one where there was piling on, then I might see your point, but this post is just indicative of the many posts that showed a "poor winner" attitude in spades. Perhaps you didn't see them all.

70. I dunno, honestly
I thought the Wimmen-Hater's Club went out of fashion with Our Gang...

Seriously, I do think it is anger at her husband for "leaving" them. And some blame him for Bush getting in, because of his indiscretion. They don't blame Gore, they blame Clinton.

So, what's the logical (cough, choke--I am being sarcastic) thing to do? Take it out on his WIFE!

The GOP ran for quite a while on that "pure meanness" shit. Remember the vitriol from NEWT? It's some ugly business, that.

It ends up consuming them, though. It takes way more energy to hate than to cheer. And the former makes you feel like shit, while the latter lifts you up.

71. That would imply that a lot of Obama support here is actually Hillary hate
Hmmm, that would explain an awful lot. I always knew this was a factor, but the spewing of hatred during a huge victory by the victors is almost unheard of. This burning hatred is supposed to be a good motivator I guess huh? I hate Bush, but I've never hated a Democrat other than Lieberman and a few turncoats of his ilk. I hope we can make up after the primary - I like Obama but his most ardent supporters are beyond the pale IMHO.

74. I thought some of those supporters were kinda interesting.
The angry ones are unreasonably angry. Some of them are determined to DIVIDE. EAGER to, too. It's like they live to be pissed off, outraged, hurt, victimized, and they continually hector and scold people who don't share their views.

A lot of them are brand-spanking new. Some of them seem like they're old hands here, even though they have only joined recently. The real mean ones are people I don't recognize. I don't know what to make of that.

I refuse to worry about them too much. It's a waste of energy. Let 'em stew in their anger, I suppose.

48. Maybe this will help?
UPDATE 7:12 p.m.: AP and NBC have now changed their delegate counts to 13 for Obama and 12 for Clinton.

***********

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) won today's raw vote in Nevada but senior aides to Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) believe they have narrowly won the fight for delegates in the Silver State.

In a just completed conference call with Obama campaign manager David Plouffe and director of delegate selection Jeff Berman argued that the Illinois Senator will leave Nevada today with 13 pledged delegates to 12 for Clinton thanks the weighting of northern and rural areas in the state.

An Associated Press official on the call suggested that Obama's campaign may well be right and the organization was looking seriously at its own math.

While the process of delegate apportionment is extremely complicated, it boils down to this: in the places that Clinton won, there were an even number of delegates that were split between she and Obama. In the places Obama won, there were an odd number of delegates, meaning that he often took two delegates to one for Clinton.

"On one very important measure, we had a slight lead," said Plouffe. "Just as important as the number is why that is: we showed real strength statewide."

Plouffe demurred when asked whether if Obama turned out to have won the delegate count, he should be declared the victor in Nevada.

For her part, Clinton sought to downplay the dispute over delegates.

"This is about delegates but it's also about what people are voting for and who they think the best president would be," Clinton said in Las Vegas. "Find it somewhat strange that there is such a reaction when this was a very effective campaign to reach as many people as possible and we did and I am very proud of that."
