Tonight, I Proudly Casted My Vote For Howard Dean....
Edited on Tue Mar-02-04 07:59 PM by slinkerwink
Tonight, I went to the high school, with one aim in mind----to vote for Dean with a clear conscience and a happy heart. It was a regular paper ballot that I used, instead of one of those electronic machines I had used back in Texas. The ward captain was a sweet old lady who kept on saying, "oh, dearie, let me find the list" because they couldn't find me on two lists. She pulled up a third list, and there my name was.

I took the paper ballot from her trembling hands, and went over to the voting booth. One name stood out at me on the ballot. Howard Dean for President. I marked the arrow next to his name, and wrote in my friend for ward captain. There were the other names, John Edwards, Dennis Kucinich, and John Kerry. I couldn't vote for them. Nothing compelled me to vote for them except for Howard Dean. He had done so much for me, and I remembered shaking his hand at the Bryant Park rally in New York City. I fought long and hard for him here on DU. It would've been a betrayal of my support for him if I had gone with my second choice, John Edwards.

I'm proud to say that I voted for Dean in the primary. I will vote for the nominee, whoever he is, in the general election, but the nominee does not have my support neither my beliefs or hopes in him. The nominee has to earn my vote, and in the months ahead, I'll be listening very carefully to the nominee to see if he has come close to earning my vote.

I will not be quiet if the nominee makes a mistake on the campaign trial, but I will say good when the nominee does something that I agree with. We all have to stand up, and keep our voices being heard so the nominee doesn't forget about us. He better not forget about us. Here's to the general election in 2004...

1. Why do you all waste your vote on Howard Dean?
He's as good as gone. If you all were to vote for Kerry tonight instead of wasting it on Dean, then tomorrow we can start the serious attacks against Bush. Just realize this: Dean isn't going to win the presidency. You can have all your talk on principles, but in these late stages of the caucuses/primaries, it's a waste to vote dean. Unite and vote for Kerry. The sooner, the better.

Why prolong the inevitable???

14. Tom Brokow just announced that Kerry won and he
showed the tallys for the polls for states back east. Excuse me but I'm tired of the east coast telling me who to vote for. I too cast my Left Coast vote for Dean. It obviously isn't going to hurt Kerry at all because Edwards is dropping out. Maybe one of these days we will have real elections. At least Howard gave us hope for change.

9. Oh, don't get me started.
My heart broke when he suspended his campaign. So it's fabulous that I was still able to vote for him.

I hope Dean picks up some delegates. I was blue when MN for Dean called asking me to vote Edwards-took the spring out of my step.

23. Watch out, if Dean is dead, HE WILL RISE AGAIN ! And he still has all
or most of his supporters. And I believe that many more will come to appreciate all of his positions, when they find they have bought into just a change of face, not a change to how things are! You may find that you need him and his supporters!

That is my answer to all those nasty people who are still lurking around, dripping their ooze of small mindedness everywhere, places where they are not welcome! This was a posting for those who support Dean and are happy for his win. Why do you feel it acceptable for you to vomit:puke: out your brand of hateful blah, blah, blah on a post which is about celebrating?! I would not go onto a Kerry supporters post and say nasty things about him. I would not go onto a Edwards supporters post, especially tonight, and talk about "It's about time he quit"! There are plenty of places where we can post our feelings and thoughts about others, but not on one which is basically for a candidate and his supporters! Start your own Dean hater post!

Now for Dean's supporters! :grouphug: My whole family cast their votes for Dean in California today. It made us feel patriotic and proud! We stood up and voted for the person and his positions which we want in our country! A vote for what you believe in, is never wasted!

If Kerry does not talk and walk the Democratic line....he may find that many Democrats and Independents will not vote ABB! He should not count on that! I will, but he should know that I and many others will hold him accountable to bring back the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party! To stand up for what this country really is about! Freedom for all!:toast:

America did not invent Human Rights, Human Rights invented America!
