Paragraph From AP Sums Up What Is Despicable About The Clinton Campaign
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 07:36 PM by DrFunkenstein
Each side accused the other of playing the race card, sparking a controversy that frequently involved Bill Clinton.

"They are getting votes, to be sure, because of their race or gender. That's why people tell me Hillary doesn't have a chance of winning here," former President Clinton said at one stop as he campaigned for his wife, strongly suggesting that blacks would not support a white alternative to Obama.

Clinton campaign strategists denied any intentional effort to stir the racial debate. But they said they believe the fallout has had the effect of branding Obama as "the black candidate," a tag that could hurt him outside the South.

Have you ever seen anything more low class than that last paragraph? They don't even bother to let the media come to their own conclusions. They go right ahead into spin city and blurt out that they were trying to brand Obama as "the black candidate."

Do you have to walk around in a sheet to be racist? Doesn't it count when you try to label someone as "the black candidate" in order to make them lose? Maybe I'm going off the farm on this one, but it strikes me as beyond cynical and into some lower political hell.

Sure doesn't make me feel proud to be a Democrat. And it sure doesn't make me feel like pulling the lever for a Clinton ever again, even when my Senator returns for her re-election in New York.
